Joseph Nichols Covington/Jesup—Retired sheriff George Joseph “Joe” Nichols, 77, of Covington and Jesup died May 10, 2021. The Wayne County native was born into a military family with his father serving 48 years. He knew he wanted to continue serving his country in military service.

  Gene Rodney “Buzzie” Jones Jesup—Gene Rodney “Buzzie” Jones, 86, of Jesup died May 9, 2021. He grew up in Wayne County, living a happy youth with a large family of parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins, all close by on and around Magnolia Street.

Judy Braddock Mullis Jesup—Judy Braddock Mullis, 75, of Jesup died April 27, 2021. The Wayne County native was a homemaker and former licensed practical nurse and worked with “Little Miracles” Day Care Center for many years. She was the widow of Ray James Mullis.

   Ingeborg Gertrude Tagge Delk Jesup—Ingeborg Gertrude Tagge Delk, 82, died April 21, 2021, at home. A resident of Jesup for nearly 50 years, she was born on Sept. 28, 1938, in Friedland, East Germany, to the late, Gustav Adolf and Ida Rexin Tagge.

  Tammy Jean Griffis Pierce Patterson—Tammy Jean Griffis Pierce, 55, died April 16, 2021, at her residence. She was born in Jesup and lived in the Lake Chapel area of Appling County most of her life.

Vada Anderson Madray Jesup—Vada Anderson Madray, 97, of Jesup died April 7, 2021.  The Wayne County native was a charter member of First Freewill Baptist Church, a homemaker and an employee with the Wayne County Board of Education. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard H.

  Charles William Ambrose Sr. Jesup—Charles William Ambrose Sr., 74, affectionately known by many as “Charlie“ died March 29, 2021, at Liberty Regional Medical Center. A resident of Southeast Georgia for more than 18 years, he was born on Dec. 13, 1946, in Baltimore, Maryland.

 Coris Ruth Stapleton McCall Savannah—Coris Ruth Stapleton McCall, 89, of Savannah died March 29, 2021, at her home in Savannah Square Senior Living Community. She was a Lumber City High School graduate and obtained her bachelor’s degree from Georgia Teacher’s College.

  Brant Mathis Anderson Jesup—Brant Mathis Anderson, 28, died unexpectedly on March 18, 2021. A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, he was born on Jan. 27, 1993.  He was a member of the Wayne County High School class of 2011 and was a welder and boilermaker by trade.
