Legendary football coach and player Marcus Waters dies

Former Jesup High School football standout Marcus Waters died Tuesday, Nov. 5, in Macon after suffering a fall at his home in Warner Robins. Funeral arrangements were not available at press time.

• Rinehart & Sons   Royce Welch Jesup—Royce Welch, 89, of Jesup died Oct. 16, 2024. The Ware County native and former resident had lived in Wayne County the past 46 years and was an active member of the Golden Rulers Sunday School Class and a lifetime deacon of Jesup First Baptist Church.

• Rinehart & Sons   Guelda JoAnn “Joby” Surrency Jesup—Guelda JoAnn “Joby” Surrency, 90, of Jesup died Sept. 25, 2024, under the loving care of Hospice of South Georgia and the Harborview Nursing Staff. She was the daughter of Jewice L. Bennett and Pearl Vandiver.

 Hart   Harry “Earl” Woodcock Jesup—Harry “Earl” Woodcock, 89, of Jesup died June 11, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family under the care of Hospice of South Georgia. Born Jan. 18, 1935, in Patterson, he was a son of the late Otis and Estelle Rowland Woodcock.
