Braden Daniels, an 11-year-old Jesup boy, recently had brain surgery for an injury sustained in April, and his family is struggling with the effects on their son.The emotional and financial strain on the family has been very difficult, the parents said.

A shooting in northeast Jesup has sent three individuals to the hospital.Carlos Mackey, 18; Jaidiah Brantley, 19; and Zechariah Merritt, 19, were injured in the shooting, according to Jesup Police Chief Chris Hamilton.

The continuing efforts of firefighters and forestry workers over the past week—aided by the rains in the area—have largely extinguished the Brantley County fire that has threatened Southeast Georgia since April 20.

GBI announces arrest of former Wayne teacher

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Courtney Williams Shaver, 24, of Jesup with “two counts of  improper sexual contact by employee, agent, or foster parent,” special agent in charge Jason Seacrist reported on the GBI’s website last Friday.
