Don Beasley Jesup—Don Beasley, 78, of Jesup died Feb. 6, 2024, in Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit. The Wayne County native was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist Faith.

Shelby Nicole Bradley Jesup—Shelby Nicole Bradley, 23, died peacefully on  Feb. 2, 2024, at Augusta University Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. A native and lifelong resident of Jesup, she was born on Nov. 7, 2000, in Savannah.

First phase of ag complex underway

The road to a multipurpose county agricultural complex has been long. The road to a covered complex will be even longer. Work on the site is already underway off Sunset Boulevard—not far from the agricultural offices on the other side of the road.

Mitchell Brown Screven—Mitchell Brown, 56, of Screven died Jan. 24, 2024. The Wayne County native was a Baptist and a former cabinet maker. He was a self-taught guitarist and loved doting on his dog, Zeus. He was preceded in death by his father, Bruce Brown; and his brother, Eddie Lee.

Josh Riner Jesup—Joshua Alan “Josh” Riner, 32, died Jan. 16, 2024, in Jesup.  Born in Bruns-wick, he lived in Wayne County all of his life and had worked at Wayne Service Center, KMart and KFC in Jesup. He was an avid University of Georgia Bulldog fan, even naming his dog Herschel Walker.

Barbara Reichert Jesup—Barbara Reichert, 65, of Jesup died Jan. 14, 2024. The Wayne County native was a member of the Church of God. She held many jobs, including making fabulous desserts from her mother’s collection of recipes, flower arranging and catering.

Jesup Council approves funds to continue work on CWCC pool

Construction work on the Cracker Williams Community Center pool and the buildings around the pool are going well, David Bohannon—the city employee who is leading the city’s part of the pool project—told the Jesup City Council Tuesday.

Michael Lonnie Bennett Jesup—Michael Lonnie Bennett, 39, died suddenly on Dec. 22, 2023, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, he was born on May 27, 1984. He graduated from Wayne County High School and was a welder by trade.
