 Marcelle Edmondson Yeomans Jesup—Marcelle Edmondson Yeomans, 90, of Jesup died April 28, 2023. The Wayne County native was a 1951 graduate of Jesup High School, a member of the Spring Grove Freewill Baptist Church, a homemaker, and a 27-year employee with The Press-Sentinel.

Joan Beasley Jesup—Joan Beasley, 72, died peacefully on April 20, 2023, at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah after a lengthy illness. A resident of Jesup for nearly 54 years and former resident of Savannah, she was born May 21, 1950, in Greer, South Carolina.

Thomas Andrew Barnier Jesup—Thomas Andrew Barnier, 85, died peacefully at home on the evening of April 13, 2023. He was born on May 31, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Andrew Barnier and Yvonne Ouellette Barnier. He lived in South Georgia for the past 10 years.

Preston Hope Jesup—Preston Hope, 81, of Jesup died March 30, 2023, after a brief illness.  The Wayne County native was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and the Burean Sunday School Class. The retired Rayonier employee was the owner of Hope’s Sprinkler and Landscape Service.

Thera Mae Scott Anderson Odum—Thera Mae Scott Anderson, 94, of Odum died March 21, 2023. The Wayne County native was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Wesleyan Methodist Church and a homemaker.  Earlier in her life, she worked as a rural U.S. Postal letter carrier for many years.

  Terry Franklin Sapp Jesup—Terry Franklin Sapp, 62, died peacefully on March 20, 2023, at home in the arms of his loving wife after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on Aug. 27, 1960 in Jesup to the late Albert Lewis and Mattie Horton Sapp.

Jesup revises ordinances to address issues of homelessness

Revisions to two city ordinances affecting the homeless were approved by the Jesup City Council in its March 21 meeting. City Attorney Mike Conner said that one ordinance addresses personal conduct and the other addresses camping and squatting.
