George Oliver

Jesup—George Oliver, 77, of Jesup and formerly of Guyton died July 2, 2025.

The Florida native was a Baptist and a truck driver and mechanic. The U.S. Army veteran served in the Vietnam War.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell Oliver and Dennis Oliver, and his sister, Delanor Oliver.

Survivors include his three daughters, Terrie, Stephanie and Heather; a brother, Maynard (Karon) Oliver of Claxton; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The family received friends and family at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home along with the U.S. Military Flag Presentation.

Private interment will be in the Old Bethel Cemetery. 

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Janell “Nell” Cottle Brannen

Jesup—Janell “Nell” Cottle Brannen, 91, of Jesup died July 5, 2025.

She was a longtime seamstress and enjoyed working with her flowers in her yard.

She was preceded in death by her son, James R. “Bobby” Ogden, and her siblings, Lawrence, Adrian, Jimmy, Isabell, Nina Mae and Pete. 

Survivors include her two daughters, Pat (Donatas) Siliunas of Odum and Terry (Dean) Johnson of Jesup; two sons, Kenneth A. Ogden and Wendell F. Brannen, both of Jesup; sisters, Peggy Kaufman of Millen, Bertha Johnson of Folkston and Mary (W.C.) Sanderson of Kingsland; grandchildren, Stephanie, Amy, Tina, Dena and Sarah Lynn; great-grandchildren, Amanda, Hannah, Savannah, Jacob, Victoria, Nicholas and Ava; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held July 8 at Rinehart Chapel with Hospice of South Georgia Chaplain Phil Bunce officiating. Interment followed in Piney Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers were her family.
