Barbara Lavern Wallace
Cannon Bluff—Barbara Lavern (Campbell) Wallace, 92, died May 4, 2025, in Jesup.
She was born in Screven and grew up there and in Vidalia, and was a homemaker, and Avon representative. She enjoyed embroidery and working in her rose bushes and amaryllis. She worshipped the Lord at Morgans Chapel (which she called Granny Essie’s church) and South Newport Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Wallace; a sister, Theresa Harris; brothers, Jack, Russell and Bill Campbell; and a son-in-law, Donald Westberry.
Survivors include her daughters, Marjorie Westberry and Gloria Jean Wallace of Cannon Bluff; grandson, Don Hal “Bubba” Westberry of Jesup; a great-grandson, Emory; a brother, Alfred Campbell of Moore, South Carolina; a cousin, Joyce Lowery of Ashland City, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Celebration-of-life services will be held on Friday, May 9, at 11 a.m. at Morgans Chapel Church with Rev. Larry Stricklin officiating. The burial will be in Morgans Chapel Cemetery.

Martha Dean Tucker
Americus—Martha Dean Tucker, 92, of Americus and formerly of Jesup, died May 3, 2025.
The Sumter County native was a retired Georgia educator, and she shared her love of reading to her students. She was also a great helpmate to her husband’s ministry, where she played the piano for him to sing. Her family was very important to her, as she would center most of her activities on family members.
She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Julian Lester Tucker Sr.; her son, Julian Lester Tucker Jr.; and her brother, Layton Wright.
Survivors include two daughters, Julie T. Cole and Joy T. Bond; a son, Charles Frederick Tucker; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held May 7 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with C.J. Yarbarough officiating. Private interment followed at Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to Jesup First United Methodist Church, 205 E. Cherry Street, Jesup, GA 31546.
