Scott White

Jesup—Scott White, 68, of Jesup died March 5, 2026.

The former Iowa resident had lived in Wayne County the past several years and was recently retired from the Wayne County school system as the athletic trainer.

Known as “Coach White” and “Doc White,” he was a favorite among the athletes, coaches, teachers, students and their families. His gentle spirit of tending to every bump, bruise, scratch, broken bone and tear could be seen on the sidelines or in the dugouts.

Survivors include his sister, Cathy Schipull of Humboldt, Iowa, and her children and grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at his hometown of Humboldt, along with burial beside his parents, Donna Jean White and James S. White, in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hardy, Iowa.

Carol Ann Harris

Jesup—Carol Ann Harris, born on Jan. 12, 1974, died on March 5, 1016.

She was a revered educator at James E. Bacon Elementary. She dedicated her life to shaping young minds and made an indelible impact on her students, who fondly remember her as a beautiful person and an amazing teacher, her family said. Her Christian ministry was with Spring Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She left behind a legacy marked by compassion, strength and an unwavering commitment to those around her, her family said.

Throughout her career, she was recognized for her exceptional ability to connect with children and inspire them to strive for their best. Colleagues and students alike often referred to her as a strong “go-getter,” someone who would do anything for anyone in need. People have often stated that they will always remember the difference she made every day, highlighting her kindness and warmth. Her favorite pastime was taking cruises as often as she could. 

Survivors include her beloved parents, James C. Harris and JoAnn Hagans Harris of Jesup, and other extended-family members.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James S. Harris Jr., affectionately known as “Junior,” and her grandparents, Solomon and Joyce Jarriel Hagans, as well as James H. and Laverne Althea Sapp Harris.

A graveside service was held March 8 at Spring Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Nathan Pittman and Teresa Bush officiating.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
