Robert Baker

Jesup—Robert Baker, 45, affectionately known by his family and friends as “Robbie,” died Oct. 12, 2025.

A native and lifelong resident of Wayne County, he was born on July 20, 1980. He was a carpenter by trade. He had built houses and also worked at Classic Fencing for several years. He was artistic. He loved to draw and had gifted many of his family members with his creations. Later in his life, his passion of drawing led him into an interest in tattoos, and he became a gifted tattoo artist.

He was passionate and assertive. He gave his all in everything he did and would give the shirt off his back to help a friend in need. He enjoyed spending time with the ones he loved more than anything, especially his daughter and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, William David Baker; paternal grandparents, Grace and Ira Baker; paternal grandmother, Nina Howerton; and the mother of his daughter, Dana Gordon.

Survivors include his daughter, Harlie Baker and her fiancé, Dustin Spivey, of Jesup; mother and father, Suzi and Timmy Nettles of Jesup; a brother, Samuel Nettles of Jesup; grandchildren, Paisley, Palmer, Paxton and D.J.; and a host of extended family members.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. at Memorial Baptist Church in Jesup with Pastor Samuel Nettles officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. Family and friends may sign the guestbook online at www.jesupfuneralhome.com.
