Wendolyn Lee “Wendy” Alexander

Ludowici—Wendolyn Lee “Wendy” Alexander, 71, died July 10, 2026, at her home. 

Born in Warren, Ohio, she grew up in South Florida before moving to Long County 30 years ago. She retired from Walmart in Jesup, where she was known as “Peachy.” She loved all animals, particularly horses, and was a simple lady who enjoyed camping, fishing, canoeing, and family time, especially with her grandchildren. She attended Compass Worship Center.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Little Wendy; parents, Richard and Dorothy; siblings, Karen, Richard and Michael; and a stepfather, Sonny.

Survivors include her daughters, Christina (Jay) Middleton of Ludowici, Crystal Calice of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Cassandra (Joe) Langley of Odum; grandchildren, Gene (Gabby) Middleton, Ashley (Holden) Osburn, Joey and Jayden Procell, and Carleigh and Leighton Langley; great-grandchildren, Grant, Grayson, Miles, Denver, Adley and Samuel; bonus children and grandchildren, James and Katherine Marty and Harper, Allison and Maysen; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held July 13 at Howard Funeral Home with Brother Jay Middleton officiating. Burial will follow in the Middleton Family Cemetery.

Jimmy E. Brinkley

Screven—Jimmy E. Brinkley, 74, of Screven died on July 13, 2026, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia and in the Harborview Nursing Home. 

The Wayne County native was a member of Ritch Missionary Baptist Church and a carpenter.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Juil and Nevie Thornton Brinkley; sisters, Katryna B. Hayes and Exie Brinkley; and brothers, James Nick Brinkley and Bobby Brinkley.

Survivors include a sister, Zerelda “Zee” (Marion) Brinkley Mullis of Waycross; brothers, Larry Brinkley and Jack Brinkley, both of Screven, Denny (Noel) Brinkley of Ludowici and Jeff (Sandra) Brinkley of Jesup; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 17, at 11 a.m. at Rinehart Chapel with David Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the Big Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his family. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
