BC Cadets sweep Jackets in three-game Region 1 series

The Benedictine Military School Cadets were too much for the Jackets to handle this past week as WCHS fell in the three-game Region 1 series, 13-4, 10-0, and 6-2. The Jackets are back in region action this week against New Hampstead High. The two played Tuesday in Savannah.

The Jackets (8-2) have been busy this past week working to finish up their non-region baseball season. The team will host Calvary Day on Friday to end the first half of the season. The first pitch will be at 6 p.m.

The diamond Jackets faced some of their toughest competition so far in the early part of their schedule at the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament near Atlanta this past weekend. The Jackets finished with a 2-1 record, falling to Richmond Hill, 2-1, before beating Loganville, 2-0, and Brookwood, 3-2.

For the first time in school history, the Lady Jacket volleyball team won its first round of state play and has advanced to Sweet 16 action. The Lady Jackets bested Griffin High 3-2, and will next take on Shaw High on Saturday.

After besting Troup County High 6-3 and Perry High 9-5 in the first two rounds of the GHSA softball Wayne County Super Regional on Tuesday, the Lady Jackets advanced to the championship game on Wednesday at Barbara Struckhoff Field.

Both the Wayne County High Yellow Jackets and Glynn Academy Red Terrors saw a good workout and opportunity to practice against another team in Friday’s controlled scrimmage in Brunswick. While each team tried to reach the end zone, no score was kept in the practice.
