Manuel Britt King

Jesup—Manuel Britt King, 62, of Jesup died April 20, 2022.

The Florida native and resident had lived in Wayne County most of his adult life and was a member of Jesup First Baptist Church. The U.S. Army veteran was classified as a World War II veteran owing to his presence in Germany at the time of the “fall of the wall.”

He was a very intelligent man who had a passion for electronics, especially computer programming, building applications and creating websites. His family said, “If he could plug it in and it had a brain, he liked it.”

The “lights of his life” were his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Haroldine King; his stepfather, Andrew Terraciano; and a brother, Hal King.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Denise King of Jesup; five daughters, Kristie (Anthony) Catanzaro, Amanda King, Krystal (Christy) DeLoach, and Sarah and Zara King; two sons, Preston and Trenton King; six grandchildren, Jeremiah, Alana, Michael, Gabriella, Xander and Zayda; two sisters, Gwen Johnston and Meme Sheeler; two brothers, Joseph Mack King and Andrew (Monica) King; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 23 at Rinehart Chapel with Dr. Mike VonMoss officiating. Interment will be held later in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of ones choice.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Jesse B. Anderson

Odum—Jesse B. Anderson, 76, of Odum died April 21, 2022.

The Wayne County native was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a lifelong farmer. He worked with Wayne County Road Department and Georgia Department of Transportation for many years. He prided himself in growing vegetables and raising cows and loved farm life.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ford and Hazel Anderson.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia Trice Anderson of Odum; daughter, Jessica (Greg) Anderson Sapp of Garner, North Carolina; sons, Christopher (Lisa) Anderson of Odum and Jodee (Loretta) Anderson of Odum; grandchildren, Jordan (Erica) Anderson, Nicole (Jared) Boatright, Cody (Haley) Anderson, Cierra Anderson, Cheyenne (Blake) Moseley, Dakota Anderson, Dalton Anderson, Emily (Brandon) Geldbart, and Brett (Rachel) Sapp; great-grandchildren, Morgan Boatright, Briley Boatright, Maggie Anderson, Walt Anderson, Georgia Sapp and Harper Sapp; and sister, Donnell (Elton) Ricks of Brunswick.

Celebration-of-life services were held April 24 from Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Calvin Anderson (cousin) officiating. Graveside services followed in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family.

Ruby Harper Flowers

Jesup—Ruby Harper Flowers, 77, of Jesup died April 19, 2022.

The Wayne County native was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church and was retired from the Wayne County school system’s Jesup Elementary School lunchroom staff.

She enjoyed fishing and cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman K. Flowers, and her son, Arthur Sumner.

Survivors include her son, Wesley (Rose) Sumner of Jesup; daughter, Alisha (Scott) Hippert of Indiana; brother, Steve (Ernestine) Harper of Jesup; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren including Kenslee O’Berry; and special friend, Bob Tyre of Jesup.

Celebration-of-life services were held April 23 from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne “Rooster” Manning Jr. officiating.

Graveside services and interment followed in Little Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family.

Eleanor Strickland Gregory

Brunswick—Eleanor Strickland Gregory, 79, of Brunswick died April 20, 2022, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Born Sept. 13, 1942, in Brunswick to the late J.W. and Eva Y. Strickland, she was raised in Jesup and was a graduate of Jesup High School Class of 1960.

She then received her lab tech training at Dell School of Medical Technology in Asheville, North Carolina, in 1961. She spent her 43-year career as a medical technologist at Southeast Georgia Health System, Brunswick campus. It was her desire after retirement to be remembered as someone who gave more than she received.

She enjoyed spending her leisure time playing bridge. She was a member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church and served in the St. Mary’s Guild.

She is survived by her son, Rodger D. (Laura) Gregory of Brunswick; a granddaughter, Megan Gregory (Jacob) Finerfrock of Odum; and three great-grandchildren, Aubery, Weylin and Mara.
