Rev. David Carlton Ring

Jesup—The Rev. David Carlton Ring, 80, of Jesup, devoted husband, went home to be with the Lord June 29, 2021.

He was a 1958 graduate of Odum High School and attended Georgia Tech. He was a graduate of Lee College and past president of the South Georgia Lee College Alumni Association.  He was an ordained bishop in the Church of God and a member of Crossroads Church of God in Jesup.

He was an avid Georgia Tech fan and enjoyed golfing and reading. Under his leadership, the Jekyll Heights Church of God in Brunswick was organized (now Bay Harbor). Other churches he pastored included Cordele Church of God, Screven Church of God, Sharon Park Church of God (Garden City), Adel Church of God, Broxton Church of God, and Cornerstone Church of God (Waycross), where he served for 20 years before retiring in 2009.

He also served as South Georgia Church of God state secretary-treasurer.

He had an accounting and tax practice for many years. He was active in civic affairs, serving on the Wayne County school board and as chairman of the Ware County Republican Party.

He was predeceased by his parents, Ralph K. Ring and Mezzo Trull Ring Davis; a stepfather, George Davis; a son, David Ring; a brother, Harrold Ring (1945); and a sister, Willene Ring Sparks.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Christine Lairsey Ring of Jesup; three grandchildren, Alex Ring (Katilyn Bullard), Galiya Ring (Eric) Milner, and Cooper (Eden) Ring; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Ring; four sisters, Patricia Ring Ogden, Myrtle Ring (Roy) Thornton, Wanda Ring (Carl) Shattuck and Charlotte Ring (Clyde) Fabre; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenny Sparks, Ralph (Nadean) Lairsey, Carolyn Lairsey Rosenberger, Linda Lairsey Thornton (Donnie Harris), Marvin (Diane) Lairsey Hopkins and Sherry Lairsey.

Funeral services were held July 3 at Crossroads Church of God with Bishop Gary Lewis, Bishop Tommy Powell, Bishop Ryan Ogden, the Rev. Gladwin Harper and family members officiating. Interment followed in Odum City Cemetery. Active pallbearers were nephews, Tommy Powell, Ryan Ogden, Neil McManus, Stan Sparks, Greg Sparks, Roy Thornton Jr., Gladwin Harper, Mike Harden and Kevin Fabre. All ministers in attendance were asked to serve as honorary pallbearers, along with Madison Harvey, Ashley Dukes, Max Linder and Joel Greene.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Lillie Kirby Davis

Jesup—Lillie Kirby Davis, 90, of Jesup died July 2, 2021.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a homemaker. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting and sharing her crafts with others.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Davis; son, James O. Davis; and three sisters, Mary Frances Woempner, Juanita Ryan and Mattie Lee Tucker.

Survivors include three sons, Earl “Wayne” (Connie) Davis of Jesup, Tommy D. Davis of Canyon, Texas, and Robert “Bobby” Davis of Amarillo, Texas, and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held July 5 in Rinehart Chapel with the Rev. Fred Anderson officiating. Interment followed in the George Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family and friends.

Juanita O’Brien London

Jesup—Juanita O’Brien London, 78, died July 1, 2021, at her residence.

She was born May 30, 1943, in Baxley to the late Albert Lee Teston and the late Ninas Underwood Teston. Before retiring, she was a cosmetologist and owner of Nita’s Magic Mirror.

Survivors include her husband Garrison Lee London of Jesup; daughter, Sandi Shaffer of Clarkesville; sisters, Christine Yeomans and Merlene Gore both of Baxley; brother, Donald Teston of Baxley; and one grandchild, Logan Shaffer.

Funeral services were held July 4 from the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Allen Copeland officiating.

Interment followed in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Jackie Yeomans, David Gore, Bruce Palmer, Roger Hardenbrook, John Ross Yeomans and Dale London.

Tommy Gene Anderson

Callahan, Florida—Tommy Gene Anderson, 75, of Callahan, Florida, died June 29, 2021.

He was born in Eagle Lake, Florida, to the late Dennis Anderson and Ruth Adams. He graduated in 1965 from Jesup High School.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1966 to 1972. During that time, He received two Purple Hearts, and he was honorably discharged at the end of his enlistment. He then went on to be a foreman for many years at Milton J. Wood Construction.

He had many hobbies, including hunting, fishing and being outdoors. He also had a passion for music and enjoyed playing the guitar and harmonica.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Dora.  

Survivors include his loving wife, Rillar Anderson; daughter, Denise (David) Sutton; son, Chris (Kathrine) Anderson; grandchildren, Kayla (Justin) Siegmand, Kyle (Mandy) Raulerson, Nathan Sutton; great-grandchildren, Damon, K.J. and Kayson; brothers, Leon (Alice) Anderson, Albert (Sandra) Anderson, Velmer Anderson; sisters, Nancy Minchew, Karen Bennett, Bet (Ken) Ellis, Alice Michelin; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration-of-life ceremony was held July 7 at Nassau Funeral Home with pastor Jeff Carter officiating.

Interment followed at Jacksonville National Cemetery.
