Barbara Ann Manning
Jesup—Barbara Ann Manning, 86, of Jesup died Feb. 26, 2025, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
The Florida native had lived most of her life in Wayne County and was a member of Odum Church of God and through the years served in various churches as a teacher and a member of many committees.
She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing Rummy and enjoyed all holidays.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Thomas R. Lane Sr., and Eldred Manning, and a daughter, Debra Dunn,
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Chester) Gillion of Jesup; a son, Thomas Lane Jr. of Jesup; four grandchildren, Grooms, Thomas, Jennifer and Angie (fiance John); 10 great-grandchildren; and many extended-family members.
Funeral services were held March 3 from Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Justin Moriarty and the Rev. Gladwin Harper officiating.
Private interment were held at Union Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Greg Sparks, Stan Sparks, Roy Thornton, Buddy Carter, Kevin Fabre and Gary Jones.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Jesup—Loretta “Rita” Outler, 68, of Jesup died Feb. 26, 2025, at the Hospice of South Georgia Inpatient Unit.
The Florida native had lived in Wayne County most of her adult life and was a member of Jesup Seventh-Day Adventist Church. She served in the U.S. Army reserves. She graduated from Georgia State University with a biochemistry engineering degree and was a former employee of ITT Rayonier.
She enjoyed fishing, woodworking and singing, but her most important priorities were God and her family.
Her stepfather, Jack Rogers, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Jessica (Jarrod) Voorhees of Kansas and Aimee (Steven) Maxwell of Waycross; a son, Donovan Outler of Jesup; their father, Joseph Outler; her mother, Leoma Rogers of Jesup; 11 grandchildren, Chana, Elijah, Serina, Brianna, Hannah, Caleb, Nicholas, Wyatt, Cody, Garett and Shelby; four great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jeffrey Abbott, Clayton (Vicki) Melton, Joseph (Joyce) Melton and Jayson (Lucy) Melton; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held March 2 at Rinehart Chapel with Deacon Donnell Jones officiating. Interment followed in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Donovan Outler, Jayson, Clayton Melton, Steven Melton, Jeffrey Abbott and Elijah Beasley.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.

George Michael Hill
Jesup—George Michael Hill, 74, died Feb. 26, 2025, at Wayne Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness.
A resident of Jesup since 1978, he was born on Dec. 8, 1950, in Tifton to the late William Denny Hill Sr. and Grace Maudine Nipper Hill. He and his family relocated to Waycross when he was young, and he lived most of his early years there before moving to St. Simons Island, where he worked as a cabinet maker for many years with South Georgia Millworks. While living there, he met and married the love of his life in 1975. The two soon relocated to Jesup, and he took a position at Rayonier where he worked until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of Jesup Primitive Baptist Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed building projects, frying fish and piddling in his shop. He was a true master carpenter, and his attention to detail was second to none. He truly could build anything he put his mind to. He also loved music, having played guitar for most of his life; fishing; and watching the Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.
He enjoyed life, and he loved to joke around and have fun with his beloved friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Gregory Webster Hill.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Pam Wommack Hill of Jesup; two daughters, Amy Hill Weaver of Athens and Emily Reagin Hill of Jesup; one brother, William Denny (Fredia) Hill Jr. of Blackshear; one sister, Diane Rowe of Blackshear; three grandchildren, Bracken and Koen Murphy of Jesup and Anniston Weaver of Athens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended-family members.
Funeral services were held March 1 at 3 p.m. at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with Elder Keith Tillman officiating.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Webster Hill, Glenn Rowe, Will Hill, Russ Wilcher, Patrick Hill and Johnny Nipper.

Clara Wynell Wilkes Scott
Vidalia—Clara Wynell Wilkes Scott, 97, of Vidalia, died Feb. 27, 2025, at Harborview Health Systems in Jesup following an extended illness.
She was a native of Toombs County, having lived in Jesup 25 years before returning to Toombs County in 1985. She worked as a sewing machine operator at Oxford Industries in Vidalia and Manhattan in Jesup for a combined 45 years.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Vidalia since 1945 and was a member the Busy Bees Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Scott in 2011; her parents, Ralph Wilkes and Emma Elijah Stacks Wilkes; and three brothers, Quinton, John O. and W.T. Wilkes.
Survivors include two sons, Charles E. (Rhonda) Scott of Jesup and Richard Oliver (Lois) Scott of Hoschton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside memorial service will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Pinecrest Cemetery with Randy McDuffie officiating.
