Wilma Jean Stansel Anderson McLain

Jesup—Wilma Jean Stansel Anderson McLain, 86, of Jesup died March 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

The Cobb County native had lived in Wayne County for many years and was a member of Cornerstone United Pentecostal Church. The former Georgia Narrow Fabrics employee loved to camp, watch game shows, read the Bible and make plans for holiday family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Mandle Anderson and Aaron McLain, and a great-grandchild, Harlee Chestnut. 

Survivors include her sons, Rodney (Teresa) Anderson of Jesup and Michael Anderson of Jesup; daughters, Pam (Ed) Gibson of Columbia, South Carolina, Tonjua (Charles) Calhou of Columbia, South Carolina, and Tammy (Clifton) Dixon of Jesup; grandchildren, Jennifer (Heath) Chestnut, Jessica “Liz” (Stephen) Lowther, Katelyn (Cory) Green, Kelsey (Ben) Lipton, Kyle Jackson and Logan (Ashley) Riddle; and several great-grandchildren, Mason, Karson and Myles Chestnut, Cooper and Keegan Green, Hudson, AubeeKate and NolaGray Lipton.

Funeral services were held March 22 at Rinehart Chapel with Pastor Timothy Bush officiating. A private family burial was held in Rolling Hills Cemetery in Acworth.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. 

 

Thomas Hampton Davis Jr.

Jesup—Thomas Hampton “Hamp” Davis Jr., 68, of Jesup died on March 12, 2025.

The Wayne County native was of the Episcopalian faith and retired from the Department of Defense at Hunter Army Airfield.

He loved to watch Westerns but adored his dogs.

The love of his life for 34 years, Shannon Denmark Davis, preceded him in death along with his parents, Tommy and Faye Davis.

Survivors include his two sisters, Donna (Ronnie) Lemmond of Fernandina Beach, Florida and Jerri (Gary) Samuel of Harriett’s Bluff; a brother, Russ Davis of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews and other extended family members.

Graveside funeral services were held in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. 

 

Mable Davis Marr

Jesup—Mable Davis Marr, 77, of Jesup died March 24, 2025, under the loving care of Georgia Hospice Care.

The Brantley County native had lived in Wayne County most of her life and was a Christian. She started her career as a nurse’s aide in Jesup Healthcare and then became a homemaker and caretaker for her family in her latter days.

She loved to shop, garden, listen to music and take pictures.

She was preceded in death by her son, David Lane; a grandson, Chris Lee Lane; and her parents and siblings. 

Survivors include her husband, Grady Marr of Jesup; two daughters, Donna (Ralph) Brankel of Rock, Kansas and Lisa (Billy) Crews of Jesup; grandchildren, Chris Lane, Paul (Jordan) Brankel, Stephen and Derek Lane; great-grandchildren, Marley, McKenzy, Branson, Winsley, Gracie and Macey; a sister, Doris Hopkins of Screven; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today (Thursday) at 11 a.m. at Rinehart Chapel with the Rev. Gerald Greenlee and the Rev. Donnie Mullis officiating. Interment will follow in O’Quinn Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be friends and family.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
