Elouise Withrow Ogden

Odum—Elouise Withrow Ogden, 84, of Odum died under Hospice of South Georgia care on April 7, 2024.

The Wayne County native was a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church and formerly of Piney Grove Church of God. Her career was established in the 1960s in the Wayne County Clerk’s Office. She worked as a deputy clerk for many years until retirement and then was elected Wayne County’s first female clerk of court.

She found enjoyment gathering and compiling the family genealogy, visiting with others, working in her yard, and caring for her cats. Family will remember her for hosting many fun summer events at Cherokee Lake with swimming, water skiing, cookouts and making homemade ice cream.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Pye Ogden; her parents, Joe and Rilla Withrow; a sister, Betty Davis; and a brother, Pete Withrow.

Survivors include a sister, Barbara Dunn of Jesup; a brother, Ed Withrow of Brunswick; many beloved nieces and nephews; a sister-in-love, Sheila (Jerry) Jones of Odum; and a sister-in-law, Eleanor McGuire of Florida.

Graveside funeral services were held April 8 in Piney Grove Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Ledbetter officiating.

Cheryl Ann Head Banks

Jesup—Cheryl Ann Head Banks, 43, of Jesup died April 6, 2024.

The Wayne County native was a 1999 graduate of Wayne County High School and an Altamaha Technical College graduate of the license practical nursing program. She was a former employee with Dr. Sandra Mager’s practice, Women’s Health Center.

She was predeceased by her mother, Patricia Head. 

Survivors include her husband of 18 years, Eric Banks of Jesup; a son, Keegan Rand Banks of Jesup; a brother, Josh Lanier of Jesup; and friends, Christy Brown and Leona Fox.

Memorial services are being held by her family.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Eddie Perkins

Jesup—Eddie Perkins, 83, of Jesup died April 9, 2024, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

The Wayne County native was a member of Odum Baptist Church. He owned the former Perkins Hardwood Company, Altamaha Timber Company and Altamaha Equipment Company.

He had many community involvements: former outstanding Jaycee of the Year, farm and real estate developer, past county commissioner, member of the Forestry Association and Cattlemen’s Association, lifetime Elks Club member, former Gov. George Busbee’s staff, arbitrator for the State Bar and large supporter of hospice.

He was preceded in death by his sisters, Joyce Quick and Dorothy Mallard.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Susie Perkins of Jesup; two sons, Ken (Melissa) Perkins of Jesup and Mike (Ginger) Perkins of Jesup; a daughter, Haley (Jack) Brown of Odum; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Melba Stephens of Odum and Greta Vinson of Macon.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Rinehart Chapel with the Rev. Dale Bange officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Dixon, Mike Lloyd, Chester Thompson, David Plunkett, Grant Lewis, Fred Fender, Jean Bennett, Tom Collins, Russell Bailey, Glynn Courson, Tony Clark and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.

Olivia Anne Warren Harper

Bern, Idaho—Olivia Anne Warren Harper, 46, died Jan. 22, 2024 after a brave six-year long battle with cancer.

She was born on Jan. 27, 1977, to Jennifer Elayne Tyre and Jerry Wayne Warren of Jesup. She grew up with older brother Gabe (Caren) Warren and sister Rebecca (Jon) Chester. She spent her early life running bare foot through the swamps and hunting with her dad.

She graduated with honors from Wayne County High School. She attended Andrew College in Cuthbert. She played softball and had her number retired at Andrew College. She represented the school at the Junior College National Honor Society Convention. She was the top scholar her freshman year and was president of the honor society.

She then attended Auburn University, studying animal and dairy science. She graduated in December 1999. While there, she met and married Ronald V. Harper at the Orlando Florida LDS Temple.

She moved to Bern, Idaho, with her husband in February 2000 where they raised their six daughters, Emily Anne (Colton) Hislop (22), Celeste (17), Samantha (15), Jennifer Isabella (13), Arianna (10), and Dixie (6).

She battled cancer with a smile for more than years. She loved hunting with her family and by herself. She enjoyed fishing, cooking, the outdoors and loved animals. She worked at vet clinics and drove a school bus.

She especially loved her daughters, spending all the time she could with them, taking them to activities and fun places such as the beach. She was very caring and kind to everyone, going out of her way to serve others. She was loved by all she met. She always had a smile and kind words and was happy.

She served faithfully in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She always strived to be Christlike. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents Jerry and Aline Warren and Linwood and Helen Tyre; a brother-in-law, David Harper; a sister-in-law, Jennifer (Reese); and an uncle and aunt, Donald and Annette Tyre.

She is survived by her husband, daughters, parents, siblings and in-laws.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and employees at the hospital for all their time, attention, and care for Olivia, and thanks to all for their attendance at the services.
