Renewal of Wayne County’s SPLOST (special purpose local option sales tax) passed by nearly a 2-1 margin Tuesday.

The referendum attracted 2,216 votes in favor and 1,175 opposed, passing with 65.3 percent of the total vote.

Voter turnout was 19.3 percent, with 3,426 ballots cast out of 17,727 registered voters.

In the Republican Presidential Preference Primary in Wayne County, Donald Trump, the only remaining active candidate, received 2,698 votes out of 2,980 (90.5 percent).

In the Democratic Presidential Primary in Wayne County, incumbent Joe Biden received 375 out of 397 (94.5 percent).
