Jerry L. Lightsey

Metter—Jerry L. Lightsey, 73, of Metter and formerly of Jesup died Nov. 22, 2021.

The Appling County native was a Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church member and a former restaurant manager with the Captain Joe’s restaurants. He loved gospel sings and even played with a country gospel group in Baxley.

His parents, Rufus and Agnes Lightsey, preceded in him death, along with his sister, Veda Nell Griffis, and brother, Larry Lightsey.

Survivors include three sons, Jason Lightsey of Kingsland, Jeff Lightsey of Metter and Justin (Erin) Lightsey of Colorado; a sister, Mattie Lou Griffis; two brothers, Ray (Mary) Lightsey of Jesup and Eugene (Gwenell) Lightsey of Jesup; two granddaughters, Allie Lightsey and Jayden Lightsey; a sister-in-law, Cheryl Lightsey of Orlando, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Nov. 26 at Big Creek Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were family and friends.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

 

Vonnie Fennel Taylor

Savannah—Vonnie Fennel Taylor, 79, of Savannah died Nov. 25, 2021.

The Wayne County native and former resident of Glynn County currently resided in Savannah and was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She was owner and operator of Gateway Market Produce in Savannah and Vonnie’s Produce in Glynn County. She enjoyed fishing and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Foy “Pete” Moseley and Raymond Taylor, and siblings Jewell Martin, Gladys Nichols, Eunice Kelly, Ovaleen Harrell, Monteen Teston, Joe, Herman, Delmer and Theron Fennel.

Survivors include two daughters, MeLinda Mallard Beck of Richmond Hill and Donna (John) DePollo of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters, Hilda VanMeter and Ruby (Jarrell) Coffee, both of Jesup; a brother, Gary (Etwendell) Fennel of Odum; five grandchildren, Robbie (Raegan) Beck, Erica (Chris) Botero, Joch, Jenna, and Jaedyn DePollo; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Celebration-of-life services were held Nov. 28 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Mark Welch, son-in-law John DePollo and nephew Ron Fennel officiating. Graveside services followed in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family.

Ira Anthony Boudreaux Jr.

Youngstown, Florida—Ira Anthony Boudreaux Jr., “Peanut,” 70, of Youngs-town, Florida, died Nov. 19, 2021.

He was born on Dec. 24, 1950, in Houma, Louisiana. He served his country as a United States Marine. He loved to be in the outdoors, fishing, shrimping, going on hunting trips and being active. He was a loving father and brother as well as a friend, his family said.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia P. Boudreaux Johnson; his father, Ira A. Boudreaux Sr.; and two sisters, Gloria B. Theriot and Diane Boudreaux.

Survivors include his wife, Fonda M. Boudreaux of Jesup; four children, Kim (Troy) Boudreaux of Youngstown, Dixie B. (Michael) Davis of Jesup, Jill Boudreaux of Jesup and Ira A. (Marci) Boudreaux III of Jesup; 11 grandchildren, Harlie, Hailey, Justin, James, Kellie, Kattie, C.J., Jonathon, Tori, Gracie and Ira IV; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Brenda B. Poole; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and other extended-family members.

A private family farewell will be held in Louisiana at a later date.
