Ammons, Peacock identified as victims in collision Wednesday

A Jesup woman, Elizabeth Ashley Ammons, 30, and a Blackshear man, Christopher Brock Peacock, 32, died in the early-morning crash on the Waycross Highway Wednesday.

Peacock was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed and crossed over the median, striking Ammons’ vehicle head-on, according to the report from Wayne County Sheriff Chuck Moseley.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the collision. The crash, near the Empire Road junction, is reported to have happened at 6:17 a.m. April 24. Both vehicles were Ford Explorers.

Moseley’s report said that the Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash to determine contributing factors.
