Willie Mae Gibby
Jesup—Willie Mae Gibby, 69, of Jesup died Sept. 6, 2017, of an apparent heart attack.
The Toccoa native had lived in Wayne County the past 15 years and was a homemaker. She attended New Life Church and loved to fish.
She was predeceased by her son, Bradley Gibby.
Survivors include a husband of 53 years, Randall Gibby of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Brian Keith of Martin and Elaine and Edward Drawdy of Jesup; five grandchildren and their spouses, Brandy and Michael Thomas, Kayla and Joshua Skipper, the Rev. Justin and Tiffany Drawdy, Stephen and Whitley Drawdy, and Tiffany and Alex Pye; nine great-grandchildren; five brothers and four sisters-in-law, Fred and Beverly Holcomb, Furman and Edna Holcomb, Goss and Ollie Holcomb, Ronnie and Kathy Holcomb and James Holcomb; and several nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jesup—JoAnn Weatherspoon, 59, of Jesup died Aug. 31, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 19, 1958, to the late Joe Weatherspoon and Ozella Nixon-Weatherspoon in Jesup. She was educated in the public school system of Wayne County and graduated in the Class of 1976.
She attended Wings of Faith Church in Atlanta and New Creations in Jesup. She spent most of her life employed as a cook and worked at Captain Joe’s in Jesup. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, dancing and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a daughter, Ashley Johnson of Atlanta; two loving sons, Dante’ Weatherspoon and Steve Johnson II, both of Atlanta; five sisters and a brother-in-law, Cynthia Ross, Carolyn Boone, Deborah Weatherspoon and Gwynette Clemons, all of Jesup, and Wendy and Greg Smith of Brunswick; one brother, Jimmy Weatherspoon of Jesup; a special aunt, Sarah Weatherspoon, of Jesup; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The body will lie in state one hour prior to services today (Saturday). Services will be at 3 p.m. at New Creations, 3010 Lanes Bridge Road. Interment will be in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery.
Royal Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
