Donald Eugene Westberry

Jesup—Donald Eugene Westberry, 70, of Jesup, died Aug. 2, 2018, of an apparent heart attack.

The Wayne County native was a member of new Hope Freewill Baptist Church, where he was serving as “song leader.”  He received an associate’s degree in forestry and recently retired from Rayonier.

He enjoyed farming, growing pine and pecan trees and spending time as “Papa.” He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam.

He was predeceased by his parents, Melvin and Burnell Westberry; a brother, Homer Westberry; and a sister, Margaret Copeland.

Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Marjorie “Margie” Wallace Westberry of Jesup; a son, Don Hal “Bubba” Westberry of Jesup; sisters, Lavette Johnson of Brunswick, Gladys (Dewayne) Ogden of Jesup, Eunice Westberry of Jesup, Irma (Phillip) Hart of Odum, and Kathryn Lane of Jasper, Alabama; brothers, Royal (Dianne) Westberry, Alvin (Cindy) Westberry and Herbert (Patricia) Westberry, all of Jesup; a grandson, Charles Emory Willis of Jesup; brother-in-law, Gleason Copeland of Jesup; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Horne officiating. Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery with American Legion Post No. 311 flag presentation.  Active pallbearers will be family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Hope Building Fund, 1240 New Hope Road, Jesup, GA 31545.

Susan Jane Jones

Screven—Susan Jane Jones, 62, of Screven died July 31, 2018, under the care of Georgia Hospice Care.

The Wayne County native was of the Christian faith. She was a homemaker and the president of her husband’s business, Job Trucking Inc. She loved to dance.

She was predeceased by her parents, C.J. Smith and Golamae Johnson Sharples.

Survivors include a husband of 32 years, Eddie Jones of Screven; a daughter, Adel Rose Lore of Brunswick; a son and daughter-in-law, Devin P. and Gena Jones of Hortense; seven grandchildren; stepdaughter, Cathy Shepherd of New Jersey; a stepson, Ricky Dyal of Darien; a sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Arron  Westberry of Jesup; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Clyde James and Sabrina Smith Jr. of Screven and Tommy and Karen Smith of Jesup; and several nieces, nephews.

A visitation was held on Aug. 3.

Howard Lawrence “Larry” Yarbrough

Jesup—Howard Lawrence “Larry” Yar-brough, 71, of Jesup, died Aug. 3, 2018, at his residence under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after an extended illness.

The Wayne County native was a Baptist, retired truck driver and a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed Nascar racing and riding the countryside.

He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Lula Bell England Yarbrough.

Survivors are a son, Justin (Christina) Yarbrough of Jesup; a sister, Anne (Carroll) Anderson of Screven; four grandchildren, Noah, Baylie, Michael and Maddy Yarbrough; and two nieces.

Memorial services will be held Aug. 8 at 2 p.m. at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. prior to services at chapel.

Gary L. Floyd

Jesup—Gary L. Floyd, 54, of Jesup, died July 30, 2018.

Memorial services will be held today (Saturday) at Bethlehem Baptist Church.
