Billy Gene Morgan
Ludowici—Billy Gene Morgan, 84, of Ludowici died July 31, 2016, at his residence after an extended illness.
The Long County native was a member of Long County’s Calvary Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class. He was a U.S. Army and U.S. Navy veteran, having served in the Korean Conflict. He was employed with the Long County Recycling Center and enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, visiting with others, and spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his son, Michael James Morgan.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Doris Moody Morgan of Ludowici; two daughters and sons-in-law, Becky and Jimmy Howard and Debbie and Bryan Wingate of Ludowici; two sons and daughters-in-law, John W. and Susan Morgan and Daryl and Nicole Morgan of Ludowici; brothers, Luther and Sammy Morgan of Montgomery, Ala.; three sisters, Dorothy Easterwood and Becky Morris of Montgomery, Ala., and Sandra Truitt of Marietta; 11 grandchildren, Morgan, Meagan, Midy, Michala, Jonathan, Kenneth, Travis, Bradley, Bryan, Liz and Brennan; four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a special aunt, Sue Nell Davis of Shellman Bluff.
Funeral service will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with the Rev. John Gladin and the Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Interment will be in Elim Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Bryan Wingate II, Jonathan Morgan, Kenneth Morgan, Bradley Morgan, Travis Morgan, Richard Howard, Zane Brown and Brennan Morgan.

Mary Dean Potter McKenzie
Brunswick—Mary Dean Potter McKenzie, 81, of Bruns-wick, died Aug. 1, 2016, after a short illness.
The Screven County native lived in Brunswick most of her life. She was a member of Jesup Christian Fellowship, and a retired registered nurse for Southeast Georgia Health Systems. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and spending time with her family.
She was the widow of Henry R. “Bob” McKenzie Sr. and predeceased by her brothers, A.E. Potter, Calvin S. Potter, Ivey J. Potter, Willard Neal Potter, and a sister, Etherlene Harris.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Harold Hand of Brunswick; three sons and a daughter-in-law, Robert McKenzie of Brunswick, Gary and Theresa McKenzie of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donald McKenzie of Hortense; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with Ivan Reddick officiating. Graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Palmetto Cemetery in Brunswick.
Active pallbearers will be James West, Robbie McKenzie, Aaron McKenzie, Keith Hand, Ray Potter and Rickey Potter.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Joshua Dean Cowart
Jesup—Josh Cowart, 38, died July 28, 2016, at home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after an extended illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1977, in Gwinnett County, he was a lifelong resident of Wayne County. He was educated in the Wayne County public schools and attended Wayne County High School. He was passionate about music and loved spending time with his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rickey Cowart; his brother, Shannon Poppell; his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Donahue; and his paternal grandparents, Harris and Jewel Cowart.
Survivors include his mother, Carol Donahue Cowart of Jesup; a sister, Kim Poppell Anderson of Jesup; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on  Aug. 6 at Howard & Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.
