Larry Andrew Johnson
Jesup—Larry Andrew Johnson, 69, of Jesup died Aug. 9, 2016, after an extended illness in Altamaha Healthcare Center under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
The Wayne County native was a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a carpenter, roofer and brick mason. He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew and Virgie Lofton Johnson; a brother, Doyle Johnson; and sisters, Mary Douberly and Betty Johnson.
Survivors include a brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Patsy Johnson of Augusta; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Ruth Burkhalter, Melba and K.C. Gest, and Maxine Loper of Jesup; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private memorial services will be held by the family.

Archie Jerome Jackson
Jesup—Archie Jerome Jackson, 85, of Jesup died Aug. 26, 2016, at Southeast Georgia Healthcare System-Bruns-
wick Campus following a lengthy illness.
He was born March 12, 1931, to the late Willie and Albertha Buggs-Jackson in Richmond Hill. He was educated in the public school system of Bryan County and was a member of Harvest Ministries. He was a retiree of CSX Railroad with 38 years of service as a track inspector. He also worked at Sybil’s Restaurant, Adam’s gas station, and also Kmart in the gardening department.
He was known in the community as a good man, doing whatever he could to help anyone that he could, always showing himself friendly. His good humor, soft-spoken demeanor and easy-going spirit will be greatly missed, according to his family.
He was preceded in death by both parents; his wife, Betty Jean Thomas-Jackson; and three sisters, Mildred Williams, Barbara Ann Johnson and Marva Fatardo.
He is survived by a son, Roland “Kenneth” Screven-Jackson of Jesup; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Carrie Bizzard of Savannah and Jacquline and Eddie Miller of Richmond Hill; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ernest Jackson of Brownsmill, N.J., Donald and Aletha Singleton of Richmond Hill, Dwight and Cathy Singleton of Lawton, Okla., and Alonzo Singleton of Richmond Hill; godchildren, Connell and Malika Jackson, both of Jesup; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no visitation. Remains will lie in state two hours prior to services.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 3 at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Interment will be in Jesup City Cemetery.
