George Perry Lane

Jesup—George Perry Lane, 72, of Jesup died Aug. 8, 2018, after a short illness.

The Wayne County native was a retired welder and enjoyed outdoor activities.

He was predeceased by his parents, Alton and Mary Lane.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Teele Lane of Jesup; a son, Perry Smith of Hortense; a stepdaughter, Michele Bennett of Jesup; four sisters, Mildred “Sister” Anderson, Janet Evors, Lora Barwick Dowdy and Joan Kennedy, all of Jesup; two brothers, A.W. Lane Jr. of Stockbridge and Kenny Lane of Mount Pleasant; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Graveside funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Arnett Family Cemetery, 8255 Post Road, Hortense, with the Rev. Jimmy Dowdy officiating. Active pallbearers will be his family.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

June Jackson

Athens, Alabama—June Jackson, 83, of Athens, Alabama, died Aug. 9, 2018, at Limestone Health Facility.

She was born Dec. 8, 1934, in Wayne County to R. Bennett Franklin and Edna Christine Smith Franklin.

She was an active member at St. Paul Catholic Church until she became ill. She was nown as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James B. Jackson, and her sister, Nell Caroline Franklin Delk.

Survivors include her son, Steve (Laurie) Jackson; daughters Debbie (Jack) Thomas, Kathy (Keith) McBay and Christa (Patrick) Baugher; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Lavada Aspinwall and Linda Deloach.

Services will be held today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Athens. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to time of service.  Pallbearers will be her grandsons Matt Thomas, Alex Jackson, Sid Jackson, Luke Jackson, Casey McBay and Grant Baugher. Honorary pallbearers will be Alec Baugher and Sam Jackson.

McConnell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
