Herschel James Swint

Jesup—Minister Herschel James Swint, 62, of Jesup died Aug. 5, 2019, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services were held Aug. 9 at St. John First Born Holiness Church in Jesup.

Royal Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Randall Sheffield

Cedartown—Randall Sheffield, 79, of Cedartown died at Redmond Medical Center in Rome, owing to heart failure on Aug. 7, 2019.

He was born Feb. 18, 1940, in Screven to the late Andrew and Bertie Sheffield. He was self-employed as a carpenter, owned Sheffield Upholstery and Interiors, and was Church of God by faith. In his free time he greatly enjoyed farming, horses, going to the lake, taking his dogs for golf cart rides, socializing with his neighbors, and anything and everything to do with the Atlanta Braves.

He had a special place in his heart for his beloved dogs, Molly and Cammie. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him, according to his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie Ann Sheffield, and his precious fur baby, Molly.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Linda Sheffield of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Dennis Gardner of Douglasville; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and Quillan Kirkland of Jesup; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Shirley Sheffield of Screven, Ralph and Sharan Sheffield of Screven, and Harvey and Donna Sheffield of Liberty, South Carolina; grandchildren, Matthew and Rebecca Gallup, and Michael and Rachel Gallup; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Peyton, Brayden, Tanner, Mae and Josh Gallup; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. from the Clark Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. George Moxley officiating. Interment will follow the service at Sunrise Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Mr. Sheffield’s memory.
