Iona Ozella Francis-Boston
Screven--Iona Ozella Francis-Boston, 66, of Screven died July 5, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Candler Hospital following a brief illness.
She was born April 15, 1953, to the late George Francis and Wilhelmenia Singleton-Francis in Brunswick. She was educated in the public school system of Glynn County and graduated from Glynn Academy in the Class of 1971.
She was a member of Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church under the leadership of Elder George Floyd, but she had regularly attended Jonesville Baptist Church in Savannah.
She was a employee of Wayne Memorial Hospital for the past 37 years as a unit coordinator.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Francis, and a sister, Dorothy Palmer.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Larry Boston of Screven; her daughter, Tamika Bess-Thomas of Brunswick; her son, Christopher Bess of Screven; four grandchildren, Koron Bess, Rodney “R.J.” Thomas Jr., RaShonda Doomes and Davion Kincey; one great-grandchild, Kason Bess; her loving mother, Wilhelmenia S. Francis of Brunswick; her sisters, Carolyn (Freddie) Palmer of Darien, Cathy Walker, Cynthia Keith, Carol (Bae-Bae) Walker and Vanessa Thurmond, all of Brunswick, and Jimmie Lee McIver of Townsend; her brothers, George Jerry Francis, Joseph E. Francis and Anthony Francis, all of Brunswick; her mother-in-law, Arthur Mae Boston of Screven; her sisters-in-law, Phecifinese (Freddie) Swain of Albany, Pharleon Boston of Richmond Hill; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Remains will lie in repose for viewing Thursday at Royal Funeral Home Chapel from noon until 5 p.m. There will be no viewing on the day of services.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Bennett Union Missionary Baptist Church, 401 W. Pine Street, Jesup, GA, 31545. Interment will be held immediately following services in Memory Gardens Cemetery, Hwy. 17 North (Darien Highway) Brunswick.

Janice Rozier McCray
Jesup--Janice Rozier McCray, 71, of Jesup died July 5, 2019, after a short illness.
The Wayne County native had lived in Jesup most of her life and attended Wayne County schools. She graduated from Paris Beauty School in 1964 and worked at several beauty shops in Savannah and Jesup. Many family members and friends benefitted from her joy of helping others.
She was known as having a big heart and treated everyone with love and kindness. She enjoyed country music, riding in the country and watching a good movie. She will be dearly missed by many family members and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Linton and Sallie Martin Rozier and her brother, Buddy Rozier.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, James R. McCray of Jesup; her son, Jimmy C. McCray of Jesup; two sisters, Donna Harper of Jesup and June Harris of Pasadena, California; a brother-in-law, Harold B. McCray of Wilmington Island; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services were held July 9 at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens Chapel with the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating.
The family would like to thank her caregivers, especially Linda Libertone and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.

Wanda “Lulu” Roberson Mathis
Jesup--Wanda “Lulu” Roberson Mathis, 64, of Jesup died July 5, 2019, under the care of My Family Hospice.
The Glynn County native had lived in Jesup the past 16 years and was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church. She was a retired cook with P&C Deli and loved to hunt and spend time with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, Milton and Lola Thomas.
Survivors include her husband, Stanley Mathis of Jesup; two daughters, Casey Bent of Hortense and fiancé, Paul Jones, Jodie Lane of Jesup; a son, T.J. (Devvinee) Cady of Hortense; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Jan (Junior) Rooks of Waynesville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including Jr. Jones of Waycross.
Funeral services were held July 8 at Little Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Cliff Adams and the Rev. Wayne “Rooster” Manning Jr. officiating. Interment followed in Little Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Chad Rooks, Stacey Rooks, Junior Rooks, Corbitt Brockington, David “Puddin” Griffin and Shawn Southerland. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of My Family Hospice and the members of Little Creek Baptist Church.

Evelyn Freeman Smith Steedley
Ludowici--Evelyn Freeman Smith Steedley, 80, of Ludowici died July 8, 2019.
The Tattnall County native had lived in Long County all of her adult life and was a member of Ludowici First Baptist Church. She was a former bank employee, daycare operator, beautician and kindergarten teacher.
She enjoyed attending church meetings and serving on missionary trips.
She was predeceased by her former husband, Joseph William Smith, Sr.
Survivors include her husband, Travis O. Steedley, of Ludowici; three daughters, Renee (Emmett) Patterson of Ludowici, Anna Nadine Mullis of Hazlehurst and Lynn (Kevin) Giddens of Moultrie; a son, Joseph W. (Teresa) Smith Jr. of Ludowici; two brothers, Earl Freeman of Ludowici and Ellis (Hazel) Freeman of Darien; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Ludowici First Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Rentz and the Rev. Andy Pusser officiating. Interment will follow in the Baggs Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be her family and friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
She was a great supporter of Christian missions and the family encourages your support.

William Robert Wall
Columbus--William Robert Wall, 61, of Columbus died July 4, 2019, at his home.
A memorial service was held July 7 in the chapel at Pierce Chapel United Methodist Church with the Rev. Howard White and the Rev. Lynn Meadows-White officiating.
He was born Nov. 14, 1957, in Port St. Joe, Florida, son of the late Charles Roberts Wall and Mary Harvey Wall. He worked in advertising sales for the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer and was an active member of Pierce Chapel UMC.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dan Wall.
Survivors include his wife, Rosmari McLeod Wall of Columbus; daughter, Taylor Wall Heinzelman of Columbus; grandchildren, Brenna McLeod and Charles Thomas; sister, Brenda Wall (Mike) Purvis of Jesup; sister-in-law, Pam Wall of Tallahassee, Florida; and nieces and nephew, Robert, Katie and Danielle.
Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Pierce Chapel UMC.
