Donna Marie Baldwin
Jesup—Donna Marie Baldwin, 49, a native of New Jersey and resident of Jesup, died June 10, 2016, at St. Joseph’s -Candler Hospital in Savannah.
She was born Oct. 29, 1966, to Dorothy Belthen-Baldwin and George Baldwin in Elizabeth, N.J. She had lived in Jesup for the past 15 years and worked as a housekeeper for many years.
She was preceded in death by both parents and her siblings Barbara, Patricia, Maureen, Eileen and Peggy.
She is survived by her loving children, Christopher and Ashley Baldwin of San Antonio, Texas, and Jessica and William Baldwin of Jesup; three sisters, Pamela Santiago, Carol Baldwin and Kathleen Ellis; four brothers, Peter, George, Michael and John Baldwin; six grandchildren, Jalissa Golden, Jordan Padgett, Jaelyn Padgett, Brianna Baldwin, Bianca Baldwin and Christopher Baldwin Jr.; her best friend, Jay Attical; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will not be a visitation.
Remains will lie in state one hour prior to funeral services at 1 p.m. June 16 at Love and Faith Chapel.

Rufus H. “Buddy” Blocker
Jesup—Rufus H. “Buddy” Blocker, 63, of Jesup died June 10, 2016, under the care of Heartland Hospice.
The Florida native had lived in Jesup most of his life and was a retired truck driver. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rufus Lester and Katherine Eason Blocker; a sister, Vivian Lolies; and brothers, Jimmy Wayne, Gerald and Bobby Blocker.
Survivors include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Mike and Linda Blocker, Andy Blocker and Travis Blocker, all of Jesup; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Geraldine Harvey of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held by the family.

Jeannette “Jenny” Horton DeWitt
Darien—Jeannette “Jenny” Horton DeWitt, 70, of Darien died June 11, 2016, in the Golden Isles Hospice House after an extended illness.
The Baxley native and former resident of Darien was a former clerk at Circle K Convenience Store in Darien and a homemaker who enjoyed crocheting and collecting lighthouses.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ivey and Ruth Horton; a sister, Annie Ruth Horton; four brothers, J.C., Jack, Dean and Carlton Horton; and a great-grandson, Ezekiel Jacob Hurley.
Survivors include her former husband and father of her children, Rodger DeWitt of Darien; two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlotte and Bruce McCormick of Anchorage, Alaska, and Anne and Dan Bisdorf of Folkston; a son, Tommy DeWitt of Darien; several grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and John Tilton, Jessica and Lili Hurley, David and Lucy Corbitt, William and Hannah Rose, Ulysecia and Darrell Hickman, Christina Rose, Casey DeWitt, Skyler Miller, Ashley Miller, Dalton Miller, Rahmad Miller and Andrew Rose; several great-grandchildren, David Tilton, April Corbitt, Wesley Bennett, J.J. Blanton, Axl Rose, Marie Hickman, Wayne Corbitt and Nevah Hurley; sisters, Betty Bullard of Nahunta and Frances Durrence of Spanish Fork, Utah; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Yvonne Horton of Savannah; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral service were held June 14 at Mount Vernon Church Cemetery in Baxley with the Rev. Larry Strickland officiating.

Betty Courson Douglas
Jesup—Betty Courson Douglas, 79, of Jesup died June 11, 2016, after a short illness.
The Ware County native was a member of Northside Baptist Church and Senior Saints Sunday School Class and lived in Wayne County most of her adult life. She enjoyed gardening, reading and being “Nanny Betty.”
She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years of marriage, John Daniel Douglas.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Charles Kutrufis of Jesup, Teresa and Robby Johnson and Tina and Benny Waldron of Brunswick; a sister and brother-in-law, Miriam and George Krain of Sebring, Fla.; a brother and sister-in-law, Edford and Nell Courson of Bickley; seven grandchildren, Lindsay Phillips, Daniel Johnson, Kelly Kutrufis Lee, Katelyn Aldridge, Brittany Kidd, Brett Waldron and Brooke Chandler; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 13 at Northside Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Hipps officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Brett Waldron, Daniel Johnson, Phillip Kidd, Odis Waldron, Eddie Lee and Jeff Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Senior Saints Sunday School Class of Northside Baptist Church and employees of Hospice of South Georgia.

Jesup—Elaine “Skeeter” Beasley, 71, a longtime resident of Jesup, died June 10, 2016.
She was known as “a woman that you would never forget once you met her.” She loved to cook and had worked in almost every restaurant in Jesup. She loved her family and liked practically every dog she ever met.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Muriel Elaine Jones; her father, William Riley Lynch; and her daughters, Judy Yonkosky and Tina Grant.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Joshua and Shonda Coran Sr. of Jesup, Vanessa and Jonathan Sanders of Bedford, Texas and Carlos and Samantha Delagarza of Napanee, Ind.; numerous great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

John L. Houston
Jesup—John L. Houston, 85, of Jesup died June 11, 2016, at the Carl Vinson VA Medical Center in Dublin, following a long illness.
A native and life-long resident of Wayne County, he was a member, steward and treasurer of Mt. Mariah AME Church. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 228 of Sterling, American Legion Post No. 529, and the Voices of Wayne Male Chorus. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, having served in the U.S. Army and the U.S. Marine Corp. He retired from Rayonier after 34 years.
Survivors include a son, Michael Houston of Jesup, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5 p.m. to7 p.m. at Mt. Mariah AME Church.
Funeral services will at Saturday at 11 a.m. at the church, and burial will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the Veteans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville.
