James L. “Buddy” Aspinwall

Odum—James L. “Buddy” Aspinwall, 81, of Odum died April 6, 2019, at his home and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

The Wayne County native was a member of Altamaha Baptist Church, the Golden Ruler Sunday School Class and a 35-year retired ITT Rayonier powerhouse supervisor.

He enjoyed visiting with his neighbors, especially the coffee club at Earl Morris’ home. Some favorite hobbies included fishing and preparing meals for his family, but he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Patsy Johnson Aspinwall; parents, Colvin and Sula Aspinwall; two sisters, Dora Ann Wood and Dorothy Poppell; and two brothers, Ritch and Colvin Aspinwall.

Survivors include a daughter, Della (Brian) Nipper of Odum; two sons, Randy (Cami) Aspinwall of Odum and John (Lori) Aspinwall of Columbus; two sisters, Una Teston and Doris Rogers; a brother, Donald Aspinwall; a special sister-in-law, Mary Ann Griffis; nine grandchildren, Sophie and Patsy Ann Aspinwall, Mary Elizabeth (Thomas) Swilley, Wes Nipper, Madison and Nicholas Aspinwall, Layne Wasdin, Callie and Barrett Miller; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held April 8 at Altamaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment followed in the Odum City Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Wes Nipper, Nick, Brandon, Ricky, Jason Aspinwall and Jared Griffis. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hospice of South Georgia, the Golden Rulers Sunday School Class members, Howard Jernigan, Mike Purvis, Keith Davis, Earl Morris, Harold Aldridge, Mickey Harter, Johnny Brown, Freeman Bacon, Gerald Lee, and Bruce and Karen Howard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Altamaha Baptist Church Building Fund, 6622 Oglethorpe Road, Jesup, GA 31545.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.


Lola Bennett  Jones Jamsky

Jesup--Lola Bennett Jones Jamsky, 76, of Jesup and St. Simons Island died April 7, 2019, after an extended illness.

The Wayne County native was a 1961 graduate of Jesup High School and for many years worked in the Wayne County Clerk of Court Office prior to moving to Glynn County and becoming its clerk of court for 12 years. She was a gifted singer who loved all music and shared her talents on many occasions.

She was predeceased in death by her former husband James Jones; parents, Stetson and Irene Bennett; sisters,Mary Ruth Tootle Strickland, Faye Graham, Betty Graham and Violet Irene Bennett; and brothers, Dr. Reppard Bennett, Richard (Buddy) Bennett and Stetson F. Bennett, Jr.

Survivors include her husband Paul Jamsky of St. Simons Island; two daughters, Belinda (Ronnie) Williams of Jesup  and Lisa (Windell) Ryan of Springfield; a son, Darren Jones of Jesup; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and sisters Jean (Joe) Cunningham of Jesup and Charlotte (Jimmy) Tillman of Maggie Valley, North Carolina.

Graveside funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 11:30 a.m. at Little Creek Cemetery with the Rev. Charles Smith and the Rev. Shon Cunningham officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to services at Rinehart and Sons Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, family request memorials be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.

Phillip Lee Corbett

Phillip Lee Corbett, 26, of Jesup died April 6, 2019.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m. at Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup.
