Chester Thompson, Sr.
Odum—Chester Thompson Sr., 88, of Odum died March 17, 2018, in Wayne Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
Survivors include his wife, Clara Burnette Thompson of Odum; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Donald Blanton of Jesup; a son and daughter-in-law, Chester and Shanda Thompson Jr. of Odum; two sisters, Onnie Osborne and Olene Moody Lewis, both of Jesup; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 18 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel.

Rev. Wayne Manning Sr.
Jesup—The Rev. Wayne Manning Sr., 72, of Jesup died March 19, 2018.
The Wayne County native was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church where he was pastor for many years. In his pastoral ministry, he served Winokur Baptist Church, Lulaton Baptist Church, Glynn Baptist Church and several others.
He retired from his family’s business, Manning Tire and Grocery Store in Gardi.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Stephanie Manning Wainright; brothers, Charles, Jim and Francis Manning; and parents, Corbett and Ethel Harper Manning.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Dianne Lewis Manning of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sheila and Donald Brockington of Jesup and Becky and Josh Giddens of Folkston; a son and daughter-in-law, Wayne “Rooster” and Debbie Manning Jr. of Jesup; grandchildren and their spouses, Liston and Torie Wainright, Kandace and Eric Hickox, Spenser Wainright, Corbett, Jake, Blake and Jon Dillon Brockington, Trey and Alex Manning, and Carla, Kyle and Cole Giddens; great-grandchildren, Stella and Bowen Wainright; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. from Little Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Manning Jr., the Rev. Kipp Manning and the Rev. Cliff Adams officiating. The Rev. Randy and Liston Wainright will officiate at graveside. Interment will be in Manningtown Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be fellow pastors.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today (Wednesday) at the funeral home.

Orita Tyre Holland Allen
Jesup—Orita Tyre Holland Allen, 87, of Jesup and Bruns-wick died March 19, 2018, after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native had lived in Glynn County the past 22 years and was a member of First Baptist Church in Brunswick. She was a retired employee with Health Masters and enjoyed painting, arts, crafts and spending time at the beach.
She was predeceased by her sons, James Patrick Allen and Thomas Alan Holland.
Survivors include a daughter, April Walker of Brunswick; a son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Michele Allen of Brunswick; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at Jesup City Cemetery with the Rev. John Carlton officiating.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.

Derek Emerson Proctor
Stilson—Derek Emerson Proctor of Stilson died suddenly while working on the morning of March 16, 2018.
Born to Elder Emerson Proctor and Uldine Shuman Proctor on Nov. 20, 1963, he grew up along with his sister—Devra Proctor Walker—in Jesup. He was a graduate of Wayne County High School and Georgia Southern University. Over the years, he enjoyed a diverse career exercising his engineering and problem-solving gifts with companies including Great Dane and Walker Home Medical.
He lived on his father’s farm off of Stilson-Leefield Road and was an active member of the nearby Lanes Primitive Baptist Church. One of his earliest and longest-living joys was the outdoors. He loved to hunt Bulloch County and fish the Ogeechee River, sharing that passion over the years with his son.
He was preceded in death by both his mother, Uldine, and his sister, Devra.
He is survived by his beloved son, Taylor James Proctor of Stilson; Taylor’s mother, Susan James Germani of Tallahassee, Florida; his father, Emerson Proctor; his brother-in-law, Lindsay Walker of Statesboro; and three adoring nephews, Jordan, Brandon and Griffin Walker, all of Statesboro.
Funeral services were held March 18 at Lanes Primitive Baptist Church in Stilson with Elder Dean Robbins officiating, assisted by Elder Randy Waters.
Interment followed at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Stilson.
Pallbearers were Willie Roberson, Russell Beasley, Cliff Proctor, Ronnie Proctor, David Mosley and Pat Merrier.
Honorary Pallbearers were co-workers at Walker Home Medical.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to Lanes Primitive Baptist Church, P.O. Box 86, Brooklet, GA 30415.
