Christine Kirkland Brewer
Jesup—Christine Kirkland Brewer, 82, of Jesup died Feb. 20, 2018, at Harborview Nursing Home under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
The Appling County native had lived in Jesup most of her life and was a member of Spring Grove Freewill Baptist Church. She was a retired supervisor with Ashley Manufacturing Company and enjoyed quilting and fishing.
She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, James Olan “Geef” Brewer; parents, Claude and Eloise Kirkland; three sisters, Lula Mae Tharp, Mamie Sanderlin and Irene Beard; and three brothers, James, Johnny and Theron Kirkland.
Survivors include two daughters and a son-in-law, Jamie Hand and Venita and Darrell Mosley, both of Jesup; three sons and two sisters-in-law, Mitchell and Latrisa Brewer of Rincon, Adrian Brewer and Edwin and Anita Brewer of Jesup; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tommy Kirkland, Clarence and Irene Kirkland, William and Diane Kirkland, all of Jesup; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service were held Feb. 23 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Tim Brantley and the Rev. Harris Nix officiating.
Interment was in Spring Grove Cemetery. Active pallbearers were grandsons.

Lisa Dyal Thornton
Jesup—Lisa Dyal Thornton, 56, of Jesup died Feb. 21, 2018, under the care of Georgia Hospice Care.
The Wayne County native was an employee with Pine Forest Country Club Pro Shop and a former employee of Screven IGA. She loved to spend time outdoors bird watching and fishing.
She was predeceased by her parents, Wilton Dyal and Shirley Spell, and a brother, Kenny Dyal.
Survivors include a son, Cody Thornton of Perry; a granddaughter, Cali Thornton of Jesup; a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Shannon Pearson of Jesup; two nephews, Levi and Logan Pearson of Jesup; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Dr. Ron Wilcox officiating. Private family interment will follow.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
 
Juanita Deal Howard Mikell
Screven—Juanita Deal Howard Mikell, 98, of Screven died Feb. 22, 2018 under the care of Heartland Hospice.
The Wayne County native was an active member of Salem Primitive Baptist Church until her move to Mossy Oak Assisted Living in 2005. She retired from the administrative offices of ITT Rayonier in 1984 after 20 years of service.
She was predeceased by her husbands, William M. Howard and Aeolus M. Mikell and several siblings.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Beth and Danny Rogers of Waycross and Evelyn M. and Travis Smith of Donaldsonville; a son, William M. Howard Jr. of Whitesville, North Carolina; two grandchildren and their spouses, Holly and Jonathan Moore of Meridian, Mississippi, and Lori and Clark Turner of Columbus; and four great-grandchildren, Katie and Houston Moore, Delaney and Julie Turner.
Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, 315 Greenwich Road, Savannah, GA 31404 with Elder Jason Deal officiating.
Visitation will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the charity of your choice.

Steve Robert Crews
Jesup—Steve Robert Crews, 57, of Jesup died Feb. 21, 2018 in Memorial Health University in Savannah after an extended illness.
The Florida native had lived in Jesup the past 20 years and was a retired U.S. Air Force veteran, serving as a high tech police staff sergeant. He loved to read the Bible and attend church.
He was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Grace Crews.
He is survived by four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Debra and the Rev. William C. Davis of Pensacola, Florida, Donna Cabanas of Jesup, Sherry and Dean Cantrell of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Janet Griffis of Jesup; a brother, Glen Crews of Jesup; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 23 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Harold Hand and the Rev. Jack Lee officiating.
Interment will be in New Hope Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family and friends.

Vera M. Moses
Jesup—Vera M. Moses, 77, of Jesup died Feb. 16, 2018, at her residence.
She was born Aug. 31, 1940, in Douglas to the late Samuel Turner and the late Vivian Moore.
She raised six daughters and was considered by her family as the best mother and grandmother ever. She was a member of Cornerstone Renewal Church.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Surrency; grandson, Jacob Forehand; great-grandson, J.J. Madison; son-in-law, Jimmy Merritt; and sister, Carol Harper.
Survivors include her husband, Rex A. Moses of Jesup; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Karen and Paul Purvis of Jesup, Pam Merritt of Nicholls, Lori and Rodney Waldroup of Douglas, Bambie and Casey Marcum of Hayden, Alabama, and Rebecca and Tony Forehand of Baxley; sisters, Joanne Moore and Linda Schwindle, both of Douglas; brothers, Lee Moore, Donald Ray Moore, Eddie Moore and Ricky Moore, all of Douglas; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Feb. 18 at the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with Pastor Tony Forehand and Pastor Steve Statum officiating.
Interment was in Meeks Cemetery in Coffee County.
Active Pallbearers were Jody Arnold, Brandon Purvis, Lee Fowler, Caleb Fowler, Chris Moore and Allie Purvis.
Honorary pallbearers were the women of Zion Church of God and the women of Cornerstone Renewal Church.
Swain Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
 
Charles “Danny” Wall
Tallahassee--Charles “Danny‚“Wall, 68, died Feb. 20, 2018, feeling the full love of his wife and two daughters by his side.
His family said he brought joy to all who met himand he never met a stranger.
Survivors include his wife, Pam, of 38 years; two children; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 1 p.m. in Deer Lake United Methodist Church, 8013 Deerlake Road, Tallahassee, FL 32312.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to the Alzheimer’s project, 301 East Tharpe Street, Tallahassee, FL 32303.
