Ritch Aspinwall
Odum—Ritch Aspinwall, 73, of Odum died Feb. 16, 2018, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
The Wayne County native was a retired Rayonier employee and a millwright with Local Union No. 272 in Savannah. He loved having a vegetable garden and riding the golf cart with his grandchildren and dogs.
He was predeceased by his parents, Colvin and Sula Aspinwall; two sisters, Dorothy Poppell and Dora Wood; and a brother, Colvin Aspinwall.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Peggy Aspinwall of Odum; two daughters and sons-in-law, Toni and Keith Ray of Odum and Tammy and Daniel Porvalik of Brunswick; a son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Shelby Aspinwall of Odum; seven grandchildren, Bryce Ray, Carson Ray, Sullivan Porvalik, Sebastian Porvalik, Emery Aspinwall, Miller Aspinwall and Olivia Aspinwall; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Doris and Murray Rogers of Blythe Island and Una and Dewitt Teston of Jesup; two brothers, Buddy Aspinwall of Odum and Donald Aspinwall of Screven; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Feb. 19 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Dennie Waters and the Rev. Gerald Greenlee officiating. Interment was in the Odum City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were his nephews. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Wynn, Johnny Brown, Randy Leggett, Glenn Keener, Shawn Flowers, Kelly Daniels, Leonard Poppell, Hospice of South Georgia staff and former employees of Rayonier.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Boulevard, Jesup, GA 31545.

Marian McArthur McGehee
Jesup—Marian McArthur McGehee, 82, died Feb. 17, 2018, after an extended illness.
She was born in Gaffney, South Carolina, on July 24, 1935, to the late William McArthur and Elizabeth Morgan McArthur. She was a graduate of Converse College with a bachelor’s degree in English/literature.
She and her future husband, Russell, met in Aiken South Carolina, where she taught high school literature and he worked as an engineer at the Savannah River Nuclear Plant. They married on June 27, 1958, and lived in Ohio and South Carolina before moving to Jesup.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Jesup. He preceded her in death in July 2014. Her two sons, David Russell and William Franklin, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Vince Brannen of Bonaire, and two grandsons, William Russell Brannen and Jared Aldridge.
Graveside funeral services were held Feb. 19 at the Jesup City Cemetery with the Rev. Byron Scott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to the First United Methodist Church of Jesup, 205 East Cherry Street, Jesup, GA 31546.

Andy Sutton Sr.
Odum—Andy Sutton Sr., 94, of Odum died Feb. 18, 2018, at Southeast Georgia Health System after a short illness.
The Wayne County native and World War II Marine Corps veteran was a member of Odum Baptist Church and a retired principal with the Brantley County Board of Education.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marie Madelyn Sutton; a sister, Audrey Howell; and a brother, Charles Bennett Sutton.
Survivors include a daughter, Minnette Schlueter of Stockbridge; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lanny and Betty Sutton of Odum, Phil Sutton of St. Marys, and Tim and Pat Sutton of Odum; nine grandchildren, Katie Fagan, Sarah Davis, Trey and Lane Sutton, Buffy Murphy, Rebecca Sutton, Jessica Turner, T.J. Sutton, and Madelyn Sutton; 12 great-grandchildren, Kayah, Tal, Colin, Oliver, Kassidy, Cameron, Ellie, Joyce, Alexia, Megan, Taylor and Hannah; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Cleo Poppell and Meta and David Long, all of Odum; a brother and sister-in-law, Alton and Debbie Sutton of Alabama; several nieces; and a step-granddaughter, Kandy Stephens.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Carl Ledbetter and the Rev. Al Ferguson officiating.
Interment will be in the Bennett Mill Pond Cemetery in Odum with full military honors.
Active pallbearers will be family and friends.
Visitation will be held an hour prior to services at the funeral home.

James Ellis Friel
Jesup—James Ellis Friel, 46, died from an accident in his home Feb. 16, 2018.
A native and lifelong resident of Jesup, he was born on Feb. 14, 1972, to the late Olen B. and Joan G. Friel.
He was a carpenter by trade and enjoyed fishing, cooking and listening to music. However, his favorite times were spent with his friends and family, whom he dearly loved.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Marlin C. Friel, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his life partner, Marie Mayer of Jesup; one brother, Allen B. Friel, and his longtime companion, Jennifer Hayward, of Screven; two sisters, Theresa L. Newbury of Hahira and Janet K. Friel of Jesup; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and extended-family members. He was affectionately known by his grandchildren as “Papa.”
A casual celebration of his life will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday at the family home on Bamboo Street. “Please come as you are for a time of remembrance and sharing with the family,” the family says.

Glynn L. Stephens
Jesup—Glynn L. Stephens, 71, died Feb. 15, 2018, at his home under the care of his family and Georgia Hospice Care.
He was born in Bruns-wick and had lived in Florida a short time, but he lived most of his life in Jesup.
He was a self-employed auto mechanic and a jack-of-all-trades. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and was Baptist by faith.
Survivors include his wife, Glenda Stephens of Jesup; three daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Bobby Starkey of Silver Springs, Florida, Gretta and Stan Vance of Stockton, and Shelly and John Bennett of Clearwater, Florida; a son, Glenn “Lee” Stephens Jr. of Jesup; six sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Freddie Mason, Marilyn and Jimmy Hewitt, Carol and Greg Smith, Kathy and Eddie Goff, Darlene and Paul Brown, and Penny and Junior Ray, all of Jesup; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Lonnie and Barbara Stephens of Jesup, Pete and Dorothy Stephens of Augusta and Harold and Yongroe Stephens of Alaska; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held Feb. 17 at Ritch Baptist Cemetery with the Rev. Denny Waters officiating.
