Jerry Edwards
Jesup—Jerry Edwards of Jesup died Jan. 2, 2018, after an extended illness and under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
The U.S. Army veteran was a 34-year retired Rayonier employee and the owner and operator of Riverland Bait and Tackle Shop. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with family and friends. He was predeceased by his former wives, Elaine Hall Edwards, the mother of his children, and Patricia Coleman Edwards, and his parents, Lewis Edwards and Marie Edwards Miller.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Blue of Ludowici and Mary (Chad) Carter of Ludowici; five sons, Kevin Edwards of Jesup, David (Anissa) Edwards, Timmy Edwards, and Joey (Tammy) Edwards, all of Ludowici, and Michael (David Crosby) Edwards of Quitman; a stepson, Christian Fowler of Jackson, North Carolina; 22 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and his dog, Carly.
Funeral services were held Jan. 5 at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Stanley Todd officiating. Interment followed in Baggs Cemetery. Active pallbearers were Chad Carter, Zachary Edwards, Tyler Edwards, Jason Howard, Keith Summers and Ronnie Cooksey. Honorary pallbearers were the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
 
Catherine Blackmon Flowers
Jesup—Catherine Blackmon Flowers, 55, of Jesup died Jan. 2, 2018, after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native was a retired custodian with the Wayne County school system. She enjoyed all kinds of crafting and gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, Kenneth L. Flowers, and parents, Ruben and Earline Landon Flowers.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Shanan and Mike Swinea of Brunswick and Lisa and Allen Spradley of Jesup; four grandchildren, Dannon Westberry, Logan Westberry, Keith Spradley and Konner Spradley; two great-grandchildren, Heidi and Owen Westberry; a sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Bill Kirkland; a brother, Robert Blackmon of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Dale Bange officiating.
Interment will be in the Manningtown Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Allen Spradley, Mike Swinea, Dannon Westberry, Hunter Landon, Robert Flowers and Jeremy Kirkland. Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of James E. Bacon Elementary School.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the services at the funeral home.

Betty Ann Kelly
Jesup—Betty Ann Kelly, 72, of Jesup died Jan. 2, 2018, at Jesup Health Care after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native was a member of the Church of God and a homemaker. She enjoyed church, singing, being a Sunday school teacher and cooking.
She was predeceased by a former husband, Charles William “Bo” Dowdy, and a daughter, Sybil Toler.
Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Dowdy, Theana Cantwell, both of Jesup; a sister, Anita Kelly Stafford of Jesup; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private memorial services will be held by the family.
