John Timothy "Timmy" Brockington
Hortense – John Timothy “Timmy” Brockington, 56, of Hortense passed away Thursday (December 5, 2019) at his residence after a brief illness.
Born in Brunswick, GA his parents are Loretta Rooks Brockington of Waynesville and the late James Monroe Brockington.
Timmy worked at HVAC and loved watching sports, traveling, fishing, and fixing things.
Survivors include his wife, June Brockington of Hortense; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Josh Roberson (Alyson) of Hortense, Josh Brockington (Leah) of Jesup, and Colt Brockington of Jesup; a daughter, Caroline Brockington of Jesup; 3 grandchildren, Marshall Roberson, Jeb Brockington, and Adeline Stephens; his mother, Loretta Brockington of Waynesville; 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, Gene Brockington (Jill) of Brunswick, Bill Brockington of Waynesville, and Donald Brockington (Shelia) of Jesup; and also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Sunday afternoon (December 8, 2019) starting at 2pm at Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
A funeral service will be held Sunday afternoon (December 8, 2019) at 3pm at the chapel of Frye Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Lee officiating.

Leland C. Poppell
Leland C. Poppell, 57 of Odum died Saturday, December 7, 2019. The Wayne County native was the owner of Leland Poppell Construction Company, well known and in high demand throughout the South Georgia area for building some of the most notable homes with outstanding architecture and personality. Leland was also an award-winning drag racer. He was predeceased by his father, Lowell Poppell.
Survivors are his wife of 15 years, Sue Starling Poppell of Odum; daughter, Steffany(Cameron) Wheeler of Alma; mother, Opal Aspinwall Poppell of Odum; grandchildren, Cooper and Connor Coley.
Funeral services will be 11 AM Monday, December 9, 2019 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Elder Chad O’ Quinn and Mike Hardy officiating. Interment will follow in the Aspinwall Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Eric Roberts, Fred Chalfant, Grant Lewis, John Yonkosky, Ivey Hutto, Jimmy Fuller and David Bell. Honorary pallbearers will be Leland Poppell Construction associates, Angie Parker, Regina Mussara, Shelly Erdmier, Jennifer Deal and Staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
