Regina A. Matos
Jesup—Regina A. Matos, 41, of Jesup died Dec. 24, 2017, at Harborview Convalescent Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born Dec. 21, 1976, in Panama to Olivia Hicks-Matos and Miguel A. Matos. She lived in Fort Jackson for several years before coming to Jesup, where she remained for the remainder of her life.
She was educated in and graduated from the public school system of Wayne County and was a member of Grace and Mercy Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Obdulia Zapata and Apolomio Matos, and her brother, Tony Tutt.
She is survived by her children, Marquavious Pinkney, Nacosha Pinkney and Alisa Lawson, all of Jesup, Jonathan Wallace of Brunswick, and Jaden Bill of Waynesville; three grandchildren,
D’Najia and D’Angelo Williams and Kieran Pinkney, all of Jesup; her parents, Olivia Hicks-Matos of Jesup and Miguel A. Matos of Kissimmee, Florida; her grandparents, Ernest and Elizabeth Hicks of McCormick, South Carolina; her siblings, Eric and Saundra Matos of McCormick, South Carolina, Mike and Tunesia Downer of Midway, Joe Matos of Darien, Russell Hicks of Atlanta, Shaquanta Holsey of Jesup, and Miranda Matos of Darien; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no wake/visitation. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services today (Saturday) at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Temple, 100 Walker St

Rollie Lee Bush Jr.
Jesup—Rollie Lee “June” Bush Jr., 61, of Jesup died Dec. 21, 2017, following a lengthy illness.
He was born Oct. 23, 1956, to Hazel Sease and Rollie Lee Bush Sr. in Jesup. He was educated in the public school system of Wayne County and held several jobs in the community, including Jones Railroad, Sea Pak and Walmart. He was a member of Mt. Mariah AME Church and was also a member of Altamaha Masonic Lodge No. 321. He enjoyed sports and grilling and was known as a quiet, reserved man.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a brother, Lavern Hill.
He is survived by his companion of nearly 41 years, Leola Hunter of Jesup; his stepson, Dempsey Lee Ellis of Waycross; his stepfather, Leland Henry of Walthourville; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Juanita Houston of Jesup, Nettie and Harold, Dasher of Jesup, and Carla and William Callahan of Petersburg, Virginia; his aunt, Rosa Carter of Jesup; uncles and aunts, Milton and Vera Sease and James E. Sease, all of Jesup; his sister-in-law, Barbara Hill of Jesup; his close friends, Ronnie “Tight” Roberts and Mike Davis; and a host of nieces nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no wake/visitation. The body will lie in state one hour prior to services today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Mt. Mariah AME Church, 100 Thomas Johnson Drive. Interment will be in Sunset Oaks Memorial Cemetery.

Randy N. Allen
Jesup—Randy N. Allen, 57, of Jesup died Dec. 26, 2017, after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native was a retired carpenter and loved to play baseball with his son.
He was predeceased by his mother, Carolyn Hill; his former wife, Bonnie Little; a brother, Larry Allen; and his best friend, Earl Crews.
Survivors include a daughter, Lena Allen of Hortense; a son, Brent Allen of Jesup; a stepdaughter, Brenda Harrison of Jesup; five grandchildren, Zoie, Nat, Rae’gean, Terry and Marissa; a nephew and his wife, Danny and Heather Roberson; and their children, Ronnie, Bobby, Seth, Skylar and Ashlyn.
Memorial services will be held Jan. 6 at 2 p.m. at his daughter’s home, 10 Nancy’s Place, Hortense, GA 31543.

Shirley Scarbough Blanton
Jesup—Shirley Scarbough Blanton, 77, of Jesup died Dec. 28, 2017, in Waycross Memorial Hospital after an extended illness.
The Wayne County native was a hairdresser and former employee of Waynline. She enjoyed quilting, square dancing, attending gospel sings, and spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her parents, Homer and Martha Scarbough.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Louise and Randy Dixon and Gwen and Art Mallard of Jesup; a sister, Martha Mitchell of Jesup; five grandchildren and their spouses, Katie and Terry Proctor, Kyle and Brandi Dixon, Tabitha and Kelly Lightsey, Emily and Mark Wingate, and Whitney Mallard; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carlton Ring officiating. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to services at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Jesup City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family.

Joe “Bud” M. Blanton
Jesup—Joe “Bud” M. Blanton, 72, died Dec. 28, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia after a brief illness.
Joe Bud, as he was known by his family and friends, was born on June 30, 1945, in Jesup to the late Joe and Ruby Landon Blanton. He was a farmer most of his life and had also worked at the Wayne County Road Department and at Carter’s Dredging for many years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching Westerns in his spare time, but his favorite times were spent with his family, whom he dearly loved.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 42 years, Sherry Chambless Blanton, and his sisters, Iveynell Clayton, Evelyn Cooper and Zona Mae Simmons, preceded him in death.
Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Tony “Shug” and Amy Blanton of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Tony Dubberly of Glennville and Sharon and Kevin McCrary of Jesup; one sister, Cindy Joyce of Jesup; grandchildren and their spouses, Benji, Harley, Cayla, Amber, Tina and Tristan, Nancy and Colby; great-grandchildren, Gracee and Makinley (“Mak”); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended- family members.
Funeral services will be at held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Howard & Jones Funeral Home in Jesup with the Rev. Justin Moriarty and the Rev. Randy Pruitt officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at the funeral home.
Interment will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be Kevin Herrin, Bobby Herrin, Brent Daniels, Brad Daniels, Gene Lane and Terry Tillman.
Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Hospice of South Georgia, employees of Carter Dredging and past and present employees of the Wayne County Road Department.
