Betty Bennett Graham

Jesup—Betty Bennett Graham, 87, of Jesup died Dec. 24, 2018, in Harborview Nursing Home after an extended illness.

The Wayne County native was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church, a former employee with Manhattan Shirt Company and most remembered in assisting with Pat’s Bridal Company.

She was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, James Luther Graham; parents, the Rev. Stetson F. and Irene Little Bennett; brothers, Dr. Robert Reppard Bennett, Richard Gordon “Buddy” Bennett and Stetson F. Bennett Jr.; and sisters, Mary Ruth Tootle Strickland, Violet Irene Bennett and Faye Bennett Graham.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Ann and Mario Anastasia of Cummings and Lynn and the Rev. Jack Lee of Jesup; a son, Dr. James Luther Graham Jr. of Tifton; sisters, Jean (Joe) Cunningham of Jesup, Charlotte (Jimmy) Tillman of Maggie Valley, North Carolina and Lola (Paul) Jamesky of St. Simons Island; six grandchildren, Tammy (Ashton) Alford, Larry Watson Jr., Jessica (Jeremy) Bowen, Danielle (Brett) Hall, Raina Graham, and Deven (Troy) Szadek; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Dec. 28 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Jack Lee, the Rev. Charles Smith and the Rev. Shon Cunningham officiating. Interment was in Little Creek Cemetery. Active pallbearers were family members. Honorary pallbearers were members of the staff of Harborview Nursing Home and employees of Hospice of South Georgia.

Dylan J. Waters

Hortense—Dylan J. Waters, 23, of Hortense died Dec. 23, 2018, under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.

He was a courageous fighter working with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy for many years while attending Peach County Academy in Fort Valley and serving on the color guard team.

He attended Nahunta Baptist Church and was an avid-video game player and NASCAR enthusiast.

He was predeceased by his dad, Kenny Waters Jr.

Survivors include his mother, Linda (Stephen) Yaughn of Hortense; three sisters, Amanda (Cory) Parody of Jacksonville, Florida, and Jessica and Cassidy Waters, both of Surf City, North Carolina; a brother, Kenneth Waters, and his fiance, Heaven Brown, of Hortense; stepbrothers, Halslon and Jonathon Yaughn, both of Fort Valley; maternal grandparents, Thomas and Gail Jackson of Hortense; a paternal grandmother, Wanda Oliver of Surf City; a paternal grandfather, Jack Waters of Jacksonville, Florida; step-grandparents, Steve (Priscilla ) Yaughn of Fort Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life was held Dec. 26 at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Jake Baum and Tyrus Manning officiating.

Gene Zimmerman

Screven—Gene Zimmerman, 86, of Screven died Dec.  24, 2018 in Harborview Nursing Home.

The New Jersey native had lived in Wayne County for many years and was a retired truck driver.

He was predeceased by his wife of 27 years, Edie Zimmerman.

Survivors include two daughters, Lenore Bryden of Siler City, North Carolina, and Laurie Hirst of Screven; a son, Gary Zimmerman of Shiloh, North Carolina; 11 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held today (Saturday) at 11 a.m. at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with Gary Zimmerman officiating. Interment will be in the Screven City Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be family members.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of South Georgia, 1625 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545.

Norman R. Tyre

Jesup—Norman R. Tyre, 70, of Jesup died Dec. 28, 2018. 

Survivors include his children, Larry (Nancy) Tyre, Lee Tyre and Leslie (Vanessa) Tyre all of Jesup; a sister, Phyllis (Allen) Westberry of Odum; three brothers, Herschel Tyre, Richard Tyre and Charles (Laura) Tyre.

Memorial services will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. at Victory Tabernacle.

Linda Sue Kelly Taylor

Baxley—Linda Sue Kelly Taylor, 65, of Baxley died Dec. 5, 2018.
