Carolyn June Howe

Screven--Carolyn June Howe, 86, of Screven died Dec.20, 2018, after a short illness.

She was a native of Wayne County native where she resided most of her life, and was the “best and most loving mother in the world,” her family said.

She was predeceased by her parents, Elmer and Myrl Collins; a son, Kayo Morgan; and a brother, L. G. “Frog” Collins.

Survivors include two sons, Jim (Patty) Dieveney of Screven, Eric (Lisa) Howe of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister, Ouida Perry of Pompano Beach, Florida; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Romy.

Private family interment services will be held in the Screven City Cemetery.

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

John Austin England

Greensboro—John Austin England, 69, of Greensboro  died Dec. 20, 2018, at his residence.

He was born Jan. 13, 1949, in Broxton, the son of the late Herschel Lee England Sr. and Willie Mae Bohannon England.

He graduated from Jesup High School and joined the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country for 20 years. In 1988 he received an honorable discharge as a chief petty officer/E7. After his service in the Navy, he worked for James M. Pleasant Company as a technician.

He married the former Mildred Bird on Aug. 6, 1988.  After Millie and John moved to Greensboro in 2005, they quickly endeared themselves to all who knew them, and they dearly loved this community. He was an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church, serving as usher and trustee and was involved in Greensboro First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school. He was a member of the San Marino Lodge No. 34. He was a Gideon of the Greensboro-Madison Camp and a member of the ByKota Sunday School and Shiloh Adult Sunday School.

He was preceded in death by his siblings, Lula Belle Yarborough, Roberta Joyce England, Herschel Lee England Jr. and Ruby England Manning.

Survivors include his sweet wife, Millie England, of 30 years; a daughter, Bonnie Jean (Frank) Randall of Rockport, Texas; a son, Lee England of Minnesota; a godson, Dale Martin of Livermore, California; a sister, Willie England (Billy) Burch of Screven; two grandchildren, Billie and Reece Randall; nieces, nephews and many extended family members and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 203 S. Main Street, Greensboro, GA 30642 with the Rev. Mark Jones and the Rev. Ken Keely officiating.

The family will receive friends from noon until time for the service at the church. 

Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Norris, Mark Higdon, Doug Higdon, Andrew Marshall, Dale Wolfe, Frank Randall and Danny Wingate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Marshall, Harold Wilson, Robert Daniel and members of Gideon and the Masonic Lodge.

Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, 3400 Penfield Road, Greensboro, GA 30642. The family requests that any memorials be made to Shiloh Baptist Church, 3400 Penfield Road, Greensboro, GA 30642.
