Joe Leggett

Jesup--Joe Leggett, 93, of Jesup died Nov. 2, 2019.

The Wayne County native was a member of Jesup Church of God.

He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Lawanna Poppell Leggett; his parents, Carey and Minnie Leggett; and his brother, Cecil Leggett.

Survivors include daughter, Sherry (Jerry) Roberson of Huntsville, Alabama; two sons, the Rev. David (Natalie) Leggett of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Randy (Judy) Leggett of Odum; seven grandchildren, Angie Cruz, Kim Leggett, Joe Leggett, Jay Leggett, Kristie Swain, Jeremy Roberson and Jeana Roberson; and 17-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Nov. 5 at Jesup Church of God with the Rev. David Leggett and the Rev. Clayton Dowd officiating. Interment was in Pinecrest Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Jesup Church of God, P.O. Box 185, Jesup, GA  31598.

Angela Aldridge Crummey

Jesup--Angela Aldridge Crummey, 51, of Jesup died Nov. 4, 2019.

The Wayne County native was a member of Spring Grove Freewill Baptist Church and a 1986 graduate of Wayne County High School. She received several degrees from Coastal Pines Technical College.

She enjoyed riding her four-wheeler, traveling and all outdoor activities with her family.

Her father, Willie Wesley Aldridge, preceded her in death, along with her brother, Ronnie (Ruth Ann) Aldridge, and two nephews, Charlie Aldridge and Bentlee Goodman.

Survivors include her husband of 22 years, Duncan Crummey of Jesup; mother, Bertha Aldridge of Jesup; stepdaughter, Shelley (Randy) Herrin of Jesup; mother-in-law, Sandra Crummey of Jesup; two grandchildren, Remi Klaire and Madalyn Herrin, both of Jesup; sister, Karen Corry; brother, Timothy Aldridge; and extended relatives, Tashma Hayes, Gussy Oglesby, Justian and Jaramie Goodman, Grace Robert, Elizabeth Aldridge, Daniel and Caitlyn Aldridge, Victoria and London Hayes, Norma Mae Aldridge Davis, Wesley and Trevor Goodman, Allison and Brandon Silva, Cody Oglesby, Curtis and David Crummey, LeeAnn and Linlee Wilkes and Keyera Herrerra Goodman.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Spring Grove Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Tim Brantley and the Rev. Harris Nix officiating. Interment will follow in the Crummey Cemetery off of Hwy. 169 in Jesup.

Active pallbearers will be Kevin Rockfeller Sr., Kevin Rockfeller Jr., Roy Crummey Jr., Benjamin Hayes, Justian Goodman and Jeramie Goodman.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to services at the church.

Vernon Jerome Mathis, 53, died Nov. 1, 2019 in Brunswick.

A host of family and friends survive. Services will be private.
