Alex “Diddy Bo” Floyd Jr.
Screven—-Alex “Diddy Bo” Floyd Jr., 87, of Screven died Nov 22, 2019.
He was born July 12, 1932, in Wayne County to the late Alex Floyd Sr. and Eva Conrad Floyd.
He attended school in Wayne County. After graduating from high school, he lived in Miami, Florida, for two years. He returned home to Screven in 1961 and began his career as a Wayne County school system bus driver. He retired after 32 years of superb service. He was also a tobacco farmer during those years.
In 1962 he married Mary Ann Hillmon. He was a devoted husband for 57 years and a loving and giving father, his family said.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Loretta (Penda) Harris and Vera Weaver, and four brothers, Melvin Floyd, Johnny Floyd, Willie Floyd and Bobby Floyd.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Floyd; two sons, James Alex Floyd and Michael Floyd of Screven; two daughters, Gail Thomas of Lauderhill, Florida, and Marilyn Floyd of Atlanta; four sisters, Amy Macklin of Cleveland, Ohio, Albertha (Sal) Myles of Screven, Ruby Brown of Syracuse, New York, and Juanita Matthews of Charlotte, North Carolina; a brother, Walter Floyd of Syracuse, New York; an aunt, Pearl Robinson of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Eric Thomas, Derrius Floyd, Adrian Frazier, Alexis Floyd, Kristian Floyd, Quinton Sanders and Stephon Watson; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral service will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at Unity Church of God (1580 Sunset Blvd., Jesup, GA 31545) with Pastor Calvin Anderson officiating. Interment will be in Screven City Cemetery.
He will lie in repose two hours prior to funeral time.
Visitation was held Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Community Chapel Funeral Home of Jesup.
