Doris Helen House

Jesup—Doris Helen House, 83, of Jesup, died Nov. 9, 2019.

She was born in Swainsboro on March 29, 1936, and raised in Savannah by her parents, Eugene J. and Lessie Hall Hammock.

She was a retired Memorial Medical Center nurse and was a member of Altamaha Baptist Church.

She is predeceased by her parents; her husband, Carl Avery House; a son, Calvin Edward House; a brother, James Carlton Hammock; two sisters, Hazel Singleton and Hilda Claxton; and a grandson, Christopher P. Smith.

Survivors include her two daughters, Susan Marie (Joel) Smith of Jesup, and Carlette (Jim) Bragg of Faulkville; granddaughter-in-law, Tanya Smith of Jesup; a sister, Jean Donnelly of Statesboro; a brother-in-law, Dallas Claxton of Rincon; a sister-in-law, Billye Hammock of Rincon; two grandchildren, Brian Lee Stafford and Melinda Von Kurtzbach; five great-grandchildren; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Celebration of life services will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at the Altamaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee officiating. Interment will be in Altamaha Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be men of Altamaha Baptist Church.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Wednesday.

The Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of the arrangements.
