Louise Alice Rowe Hiney
Townsend—Louise Alice Rowe Hiney, 82, of Town-send died Oct. 21, 2017, after an extended illness
The McIntosh County native was a member of Townsend Church of God and a homemaker. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening, sewing and cooking.
She was the widow of two husbands, Eldon Joseph Hiney and Robert Hewitt Sr. Also, she was predeceased by a son, Stanley Howard; a daughter, Tammy Hewitt; and several siblings, Lorise Davis, Erma Lee Smith, Margaret Owens and Nathan Rowe Jr.
Survivors include three daughters and two sons-in-law, Karen and Carlton Hendrix of Darien, Pamela and Mike Grissino of Townsend, and Angie Gandy of Townsend; six sons and three daughters-in-law, Nathan Howard, Ricky Howard, Tony and Shirley Howard and Shawn Hewitt, all of Townsend, Robert “Bubba” and Julie Hewitt of Broxton, and Skippy and Frieda Howard of Darien; stepchildren, Tony Hewitt of Cobbtown, Marilyn Hewitt of Clearwater, Florida, Judy Holcomb of Savannah and Rocky Hewitt of Savannah; a sister and brother-in-law, Pauline and Bruce Jacobs of Darien; 22 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held today (Wednesday) at 11 a.m. at Townsend Church of God with the Rev. Jeremy Deloach, the Rev. Danny Stillwell and the Rev. Tony Hewitt officiating. Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be grandsons, Hayden Hewitt, Quinton Hewitt, David Howard, Jay Hendrix, Remington Hodge, Anthony Hewitt, Bailey Hewitt, Jerome Hewitt, and Patrick Gandy.

Douglas Eugene “Doug” Sorrells
Screven—Douglas Eugene “Doug” Sorrells, 57, of Screven died Oct. 21, 2017, at his residence after a short illness.
He was a former resident of Glynn County and had lived in Wayne County the past 12 years. He was a welder and roofer. He enjoyed riding his four-wheeler, fishing and helping out with many neighbors.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Wood.
Survivors include a daughter, Kori Snelson of Jacksonville, Florida; a son, Douglas “Doodle” Sorrells of Jacksonville; several stepchildren, Michael Wood and Steven Wood, both of Jacksonville; two sisters, Connie Smith of Brunswick and Tina Strayer of Waynesville; a brother, Robert Willis of Brunswick; and extended family, Wendell and Angie O’Neal and their children, Ashley, Amber and J.W. O’Neal, all of Screven.
Memorial services will be held by his family.

Darlene Westberry Sisco
Jesup—Darlene Westberry Sisco, 54, of Jesup Oct. 24, 2017, under the care of Heartland Hospice.
The Wayne County native attended Faith Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her father, Avery Westberry.
Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Robert Sisco of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and David Love of Screven and Carrie and Shane Thomas of Ludowici; seven grandchildren, Braxton, Annslea, Hayden, Autumn, Johnny, Jeremiah and Carter; her mother, Dorothy Westberry of Jesup; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Peggy and Elton Lynn of Jesup and Maxine Simpson of Jesup; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Joan Westberry and Andy and Tammy Westberry, all of Jesup; several nieces and nephews; and beloved friends, Dawn and Wayne Parham, and their children, Amanda, A.J. and Megan, all of Eatonton.
Visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. at Evans Funeral Home in Jefferson. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. prior to services at Evans Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Evans Memory Gardens.
Active pallbearers will be David Love, Shane Thomas, Wayne Parham, A.J. Mathis, Johnny and Jason Brimwall.

William Wid Delk
Villa Rica—William Wid Delk, 84, died Oct. 14, 2017, at his daughter’s home in Villa Rica.
He was a native of Wayne County and lived here all of his life before moving to his daughter’s in recent years. He was an avid fisherman, often fishing the area waters and rivers with friends and family, particularly his friend Nubbin Keith. He worked at Waynline until its closing and then as a self-employed upholsterer for 40 years in Jesup. He was a Christian man.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathleen Delk and daughter, Janice Gail Delk.
Survivors include his daughter, Darlene Truitt of Villa Rica; a son, William Derris Delk of Sale City; sisters, Vi Apon of Albany and Jackie Phillips of Jesup; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. in the Howard Funeral Home Chapel with David Simmons officiating.
Burial was private.

Theron E. Dent
Jesup—Theron E. Dent, 88, of Jesup died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2017, at Wayne Memorial Hospital under the care of Hospice of South Georgia.
He was born on Sept. 14, 1929, in Wayne County to the late Lester and Eula Durden Dent. He served his country in the United States Army, including 10 months in Anchorage, Alaska, before returning to the South.
He lived many years in Athens, where he built boat docks on Lake Lanier, before returning home to Wayne County, where he worked as a plumber and maintenance man.
He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan who enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and spending time with his brothers and nephews at Rocky Lake.
In addition to his parents, his brothers, Bobby, Eschol, Homer, Herbert and Junnie Dent preceded him in death as did his sisters, Lelia Martin and Alice Raggett, and his sister-in-law, Eileen Dent.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Faye Madray Dent of Jesup; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Ouida Dent of Odum, Nellie and Howard Newberry of Whingham and Annette and Allen Weldon of Tallahassee, Florida; five brothers and sisters-in-law, Elton and Delia Dent of Odum, Lavern and Martha Dent of Jesup, Tommie and Ann Dent of Jesup, Wyman and Mildred Dent of Odum and Donald and Virginia Dent of Odum; two sisters-in-law, Lavonne Dent and Carolyn Dent both of Odum; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Funeral services were held Oct. 22 at Altamaha Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Lee and the Rev. Stanley Todd officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ricky Dent, Anthony Dent, Al Dent, Chad Dent, Raymond Madray and Glynn Ogden.
Honorary pallbearers were Nolie Brannen, Kenny Poppell, Rita Caldwell and the staff of Hospice of South Georgia.
