Alice Mae Reaves
Jesup—Alice Mae Reaves, 62, died July 19, 2018, at Memorial Health University in Savannah after an extended illness.
A resident of Wayne County for more than 45 years and Jesup for the past 35, she was born on March 12, 1956, in Palatka, Florida, to the late Willie Henry and Mary Elizabeth Mc-Millen Brown. She was a devoted mother, foster mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She spent most of her life caring for her loved ones as well as the loved ones of others at Beverly Health and Rehab (now Harborview) of Jesup. She loved her children “more than anything” and always made sure that they were taken care of, according to her family. No matter where she was or who it was, she gave what she could to those in need, according to her family. She extended her generosity to the community by taking the initiative to feed the homeless once a month with a group of a few other women called Sister 2 Sister.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, dressing up, and spending time with family and friends. “She was a phenomenal woman to say the least,” her family said. “She will be forever loved and truly missed by all of her family and friends.”
In addition to her parents, her siblings, Johnnie Mae Williams, Willie Henry Brown Jr. and Martha Ann Brown, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Clifford Reaves of Jesup; three daughters and a son-in-law, Cassandra Jones, Aina and Lamar Hardy and Tynina Reaves, all of Jesup; brothers and sisters, Peter James Brown of LaGrange, Peggy Sue Smith of Baxley, Mary Jane and Howard Evans of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Leroy Williams of Marathon, Florida; grandchildren, Javora Brooks, Navarrow Jones, Anijah Bryant, Alischa Reaves, Antonio Reaves, Evondreius Jones and Alyssa Hardy; a host of nieces and nephews including Sarah Brown, Willie Brown and Luviser Brown; her beloved dialysis nurse, Cindy, and her special friends, Louise Sapp, Eva Fabian, Cindy Harper, Lucy Hopson and Chaffonia Walker; and many other cousins, nieces, nephews and extended- family members.
