William A. “Billy” Brantley Jr.
Jesup—William A. “Billy” Brantley Jr., 67, of Jesup died May 3, 2018, after injuries sustained from an automobile accident.
The Wayne County native was a member of Little Creek Baptist Church and a retired fire chief, having served 42 years with the Jesup Fire Department, which was his passion.
He loved to fish, hunt and run the dogs.
He was predeceased by his parents, W.A. “Gator” and Pat Brantley, and a sister, Carol Bozeman.
Survivors are his wife of 21 years, Vickie Mobley Brantley of Jesup; two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Will Sapp of Jesup, Donna and John Burkhalter of Alabama; two sons and a daughter-in-law, William A. Brantley III of Jesup and Lee and Lisa Brantley of Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Patricia Ann Brantley, and her fiancé, Charlie Woods, of Jesup; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Robert L. “Bob” Brantley, Larry D. Brantley, Victor and Shelly Brantley and Warnell and Tina Brantley, all of Jesup; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and a lifelong friend, John “Jimbo” Swain.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Rinehart and Sons Chapel with the Rev. Wayne “Rooster” Manning Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the Little Creek Cemetery with full firefighters’ honors. Active and honorary pallbearers will be his fellow firefighters.
Visitation will be held today (Saturday) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rinehart and Sons Chapel.
