Roberts wins runoff
Incumbent Mike Roberts has won the Republican nomination for Wayne County commissioner for District 3.
Roberts defeated Ferrell Cooksey 269-233 (53.6 percent to 46.4 percent), according to vote totals released Tuesday night.
Roberts won narrowly, 164-162, in the Altamaha precinct and more decisively, 105-71, in the Gardi precinct.
Roberts will face Democrat Kenny Teston in the Nov. 6 General Election.
In other Republican-runoff voting in Wayne County, local voters favored Brian Kemp over Casey Cagle for governor 1,832-572 (76.2 percent to 23.8 percent), Geoff Duncan over David Shafer for lieutenant governor 1,177-1,106 (51.6 percent to 48.4 percent), and David Belle Isle over Brad Raffensperger for secretary of state 1,205-937 (56.3 percent to 43.7 percent).
In the only Democratic-runoff race, Wayne voters favored Otha Thorntorn over Sid Chapman for state school superintendent 134-42 (76.1 percent to 23.9 percent).
Voter turnout was 16.9 percent--2,586 votes out of 15,264 registered voters.
