Jesup police have arrested or taken out warrants on 27 individuals, almost all for pandering, following the conclusion of an operation, “Summer Lovin’,” that has lasted several weeks.

Drug investigators and the Uniform Patrol Division conducted the operation to target individuals involved in the procuring of prostitution (“johns”) and prostitution itself, according to Chief Mike Lane.

“The act of prostitution goes hand [in] hand with human trafficking,” Lane said Friday, noting that the Georgia Department of Administrative Services has estimated that there are 1.5 million victims of human trafficking in the United States.

Those arrested include the following:

•Nehemiah Lewis, 20, of Hinesville—pandering, obstruction, felony fleeing or attempting to elude an offficer, and numerous other traffic charges. (The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Patrol assisted in this arrest.)

•Jeffrey Joseph McNealy Jr., 47, of Richmond Hill—pandering, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and use of a communication facility to commit a felony.
